A beautiful theater in downtown Philadelphia Mississippi. It’s the first phase of a project that country music star Marty Stuart is building in his hometown. Once complete the Congress of Country Music will host Marty’s largest private collection of Country Music memorabilia. We were lucky and got to see the legend Dolly Parton perform for a fundraiser last weekend that raised 1.6 million dollars for the project. The theater has been completely restored and seats 500. Marry Stuart and his folks have done a tremendous job preparing the Ellis Theater to live on for a long time. I attended the 4 shows December 2022, opening celebration, wow, these folks know how to put on a show. I'm from West Plains MO, and traveled to Philadelphia MS. Southern hospitality is REAL. A Genuine Old South Grand ol Opry House. Its Beautiful inside. Comfortable seating great concessions. The Management and Volunteer staff are courteous and professional.
