I walked in to a small place with nothing but plants all over. No flowers. The owner was talking on a cheery personal call on her cell phone for what I thought was an excessive amount of time after seeing a customer walk into the shop.
She finally got off the phone and proceeded to complain and talk badly about the person she was on the phone with. She made fun of him for texting her at 1am. Weird but ok. Why customers have her cell phone number is beyond me but then to complain about them to your other potential customers? I was so ready to leave.
Surrounded by plants and surprisingly not seeing any flowers, (as you’d expect from a place that advertises themselves as a florist in Fairmount), I explained I was looking for a bouquet because of a family tragedy.
I mentioned possibly needing a bouquet that could sit in the sun for a bit because it might be on a doorstep for some time before the recipients saw it. She proceeds to somehow use that as an excuse to up-sell the only apparent merchandise she had (plants) after she said she did have some cut flowers. She avoided the entire time showing me any flowers because as it turns out they all sucked. But I insisted.
So we go look at the sparse amount of cut flowers and a pre-arranged bouquet (not really worthy of the occasion I needed them for) sitting in the small refrigerator. She didn’t offer to arrange anything else and was frankly disinterested in helping me with what I came in there for, period.
She thinks Whole Foods and bigger stores are what’s wiping out small businesses in Fairmount but it’s clearly more about a false sense of entitlement that she’s trying to shroud in some small business owner victim-hood social capital. I’ll never set foot into this place again. Just know it’s not actually a florist. It’s a plant shop getting foot traffic and internet search traffic from people looking for florists. The customer service and sense of self awareness is terrible and I have no idea how this place is still in business.
She clearly has her friends posting these few good, five star reviews to bring up her rating. It was seriously the most low key mental experience ever and I totally believe the previous reviewers had a rough time communicating...
Read moreI have ordered multiple flower arrangements including some with potted plants for delivery to my mother when I’ve been outside Philly and wished to send her something. Each time I have given them a price range and a very small amount of guidance like whether or not to include a vase, and this shop has always created something beautiful which has always left me very pleased with their work... and left my mother very happy with their “gorgeous” deliveries. I’d recommend this family-run business to anyone in desire of nice plants and/or beautiful fresh flowers or arrangements, as well I would recommend doing business with the friendly and fair Fairmount owners who run this shop.
Thank you Plants Etc for bringing a smile to my mom’s face and thus mine as well on every occasion I’ve requested you bring her something over...
Read moreYeah so, i went in at the beginning of my lunch break to look around. I saw a plant I liked and told the lady I'd come back after i got some food. I did, but I made another stop, and bought a cactus at another place, and i had that in one hand. She got mad and asked why did i go down the Street and didn't she have a good enough selection. When she was asking, I literally had the plant I was about to buy from her in my other hand. I thought she was kidding, but she so wasn't. Without saying another word, i put the plant i was about to buy back, and walked out. Then she thanked me for coming in as i passed her on my way out. What? Really? Good luck with your terrible customer service lady. Never...
