Iâve been to this shop 3 times and always had a professional outcome with my hair.Today for some reason was the complete opposite. The owner is always professional and Iâm always treated nice coming to the shop.I called the shop days before coming into the shop, in which I wanted stitch braids. The stitch braids I wanted had a design and I was told over the phone by a worker the style would be $100, and I was told to text the picture of the style I wanted which I did as well.
Upon being waited on which I came into the shop today around 9:30am and was waited on around 12pm due to other clients ahead of me.The worker was professional in the beginning showed her the style, and I told her I was told $100 over the phone, she tells me to get the style it would be $140 I said I only brought $100 but I can get $40 more if needed.
The worker tells me she can do 8 braids for $100.She took a picture of the style on her phone and I looked at it as ok Iâm getting the style I want but less braids.
Upon completion of the style, I was put under the dryer after that I looked in the mirror and I had regular straight back braids and no stitch braids that I intended to come in the shop to get.I told the worker she was very unprofessional yelling at me and I told her you told me you can do 8 stitch braids she tells me $140 and I said this is not stitch braids itâs straight back plain braids that I didnât ask for.
She decided to keep arguing back and forth with me the whole time I was respectful and explained the confusion and the style I wanted. She decides to say she will take my braids out, she snatched the scissors up and cuts my braids in a fast motion almost cutting my hair off.
And I said if Iâm paying to get my hair done and been at the shop since 9:30am I would like for someone else to do my hair. She says to me in a mean manner nobody else can do your hair and they donât want to do it or know how.Few mins later a client walks in for stitch braids and was serviced with no problem around this time itâs about 2:30.
Another young girl took the scissors from the girl and she took my braids out.I sat to see if someone else would do my hair and the worker decides to call the cops or whoever she was calling saying I wouldnât leave the shop but I was professional to the worker the whole time.
I spent my whole day coming into the shop and leaving with nothing in my head and a upset client.I love everything about the shop and the owner but this is unacceptable, and itâs no problem if the style is a different price, but if you donât know how to do a style or want to do a style donât do a style of your own and be unprofessional with me in front of other clients and try to cut my hair off all fast after taking my braids out for something wrong on your part.
I wish the owner was in the shop when this occurred and this has really made me upset and not want to be a...
Read moreIâm sharing this experience because my close friend refused to provide any feedback. Unfortunately sheâs choosing loyalty over honesty!
My friend and her children live on the outskirts of Philadelphia, only coming to the city to frequent Queen B Braiding Salon.
My friend has been a patron for years, dating back to the location on Pike St. Literally over 10 years.
My friend rightfully annoyed by the conditions being forced upon patrons waiting to be serviced (Crowding, boyfriends/husbands/children NOT being serviced but occupying seats, patrons eating over other patrons, coughing etc.) made the mistake of vocalizing concern to the owner who became defensive.
YES, my friendâs tone and attitude were very much in the wrong! She delivered the correct message in the wrong way. Seemingly the owner was displeased and didnât hide it. Nonetheless an $20 tip was paid to the stylist.
Fast forward; My friend took off work to have her daughter serviced. They arrived at the shop at noon, told to return in approximately 3 1/2 hours. They later returned to a full house, no seats available and stood outside the shop for 25 minutes.
The owner was aware & communicated that she would have my god daughter serviced shortly. Meanwhile my friend & god daughter stood outside in the cold due to overcrowding.
My friend has patronized this shop for over 10 years. Not only does she pay to have my god daughterâs hair done, my god sonâs too. Sister & brother! The pricing fluctuates each time they visit, despite my god sonâs style remaining the same. The work isnât always perfect. My god son removed his two strand twist the day after getting them due to how they looked AFTER the stylist was tipped $20.
We literally have pictures that can be uploaded of crooked uneven parts, different sized braids etc BUT all the while my friend still patronizes the business because itâs BLACK OWNED. Refusing to leave a review because she believes in supporting her own.
The owner needs a lesson in humility & customer service. Focus on your customers that have been there since before the HYPE. Influencers & their mothers come and go!
After standing in the cold for over 25 minutes my friend and her daughter left. Lastly my god daughter is a 12th grader at a private school in Blue Bell is who been speaking French fluently for the last 3 years of...
Read moreThe first time I went to this salon was almost a year ago. I got large twists. I asked for black hair, which is #1. Halfway through, I noticed my hair was brown, #1B. I said something to the braider and she said it matched my hair. I didn't ask for it to match, I asked for black hair. She said they ran out of black. I told her she should've said something prior to braiding my hair. After this exchange, they continued to talk among each other, probably about me. That's one of the things I despise about these salons. It was obvious because other braiders started turning around looking at me. No owner or manager stepped up to offer a discount or to apologize. The braider kept assuring me that my hair looked nice. I've been getting braids for years. I like black and that's that. Later that evening, I took my hair out. It was entirely too tight and the braids stood out from my scalp and a half inch so I looked like medusa., and I hate brown hair...$160 down the drain.
Against my better judgement, I went back in August and got small, waist length knotless braids, yes, jet black. I walked in at 10am, put my name on a list and someone was available immediately. She was very nice and fast. She only took one break. I was out by 3 pm. The environment was friendly. I have received so many compliments. I made sure I gave the salon info to those that complimented my hair. If it wasn't for my first experience, I would've given them five stars. The one thing I strongly suggest is that they use some sort of braid diagram or actual braids for reference. I sent someone there to get small braids and hers were kind of big. They told her that mine were extra small but that's not true. In another salon, they have a board with actual braids of various sizes hanging. This is a great idea for the stylist and the customers. I plan to go back and I hope I can get them as small as they were...
