The exemplification of black American culture regarding a community eaterie/bar.
Toni was an amazing bartender and is beautiful and talented.
The portions are "black"
The seasoning is "black"
The price serves the black community.
I hope that caucasian socioeconomics "capitalism" doesn't affect the culture embraced by this bar. I mean the face they decided to serve seafood in a bar setting is creative enough. The owner is a true creative and firebrand this community. But also the bar scene. Theres no place in nyc like this and will never be.
The food here is always the same. Seasoning is the key. In other seafood "spots" they skimp out on seasoning or provide some for you to use. However it's not the same as getting it with your meal. And it always tastes better pre seasoned. Clockbar fulfills this.
Portions are huge. I spent $78 bucks and had so much food i had to take some home. And I'm 6'4" 250 lbs and I EAT. It was enough food to feed two people and fill them up and take food home. The quality was also great considering the location, cost and portion size. Like I said-its black.
Price is self evident. If you can't afford to enjoy the food you got to work on yourself. Even if I was poor in a shelter I'd be able to eat here and have a good quality time.
The community is amazing. The music is the mortar thay brings the bricks together. I would totally drive here frin NYC to have a Friday night outing.
Overall if you're seeking (1) good seafood without the ridiculous cost (2) big portions (3) black culture imbued in it (4) a space to meet great copl people then clock bar is your spot. Give them a try. Don't come here with white politics understand you're in a black community and should respect their community and culture the same you would in other ethnic...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf youāre from Philly then you know The Clock Bar has some of the best drinks /slushies and seafood platters in the hood! I donāt really hang inside , but I have been during happy hour a few times never at night to just chill and hang with friends . I get the same thing anytime I go here.. snow crabs, shrimp and mussels with a green apple Ciroc slushy or a Henny slushy šÆ Bartenders always provide good service , bathroom needs to be updated (itās in the weirdest spot right next to a table/booth where ppl were seated/eatingš©š¤¢) . Itās been over 6 months since Iāve been here however itās never too late to give a review, havenāt been back since tho. I heard they have fell off and food is different , portions are smaller and prices are higher. I can honestly say the prices do keep going up .. 2clusters separate from my order was an extra $27 which is outrageous to me (probably why I havenāt been back lol) . Overall this place along with Maxās and the Eagles Bar gets respect no matter what! They been around for years and built a crazy following so the support will always be there from Philly...
