Just a word of warning... If you want to shop and stay safe, don't visit Costco on Cave Creek Rd in Arizona.
I visited this weekend and I saw only a handful of employees wearing masks and no one wearing gloves. Not only that, the assistant at the register I visited (who also was not wearing a mask) was unloading other people's items onto the conveyor belt 2 feet at most away from me and leaning in my direction - despite all their signs about keeping a 6 foot distance from others. I had to move as close to the vacant register next to us as possible to get away from her and I was still only 4 feet away.
When I talked to a front end supervisor about this he acted offended that I would even mention it. Then I talked to a manager about the masks and the associate who was right next to me unloading groceries and he also seemed offended that I would question him. (Let me get this straight.. I pay you to be in this store, right? You're not doing me any favors.) His answer to my question? "I'm sorry someone got too close to you, but the Governor of Arizona doesn't require masks so neither will I." Instead, the employees are given the choice every morning as to whether or not they want to wear masks.
Imagine that! They're given the choice as to whether or not they 'want' to PROTECT THEIR CUSTOMERS!! And they choose not to. This is unbelievable best and irresponsible at worst. They go through all the motions of seeming to protect their customers with their plexiglas at the registers and door greeters, but that's to protect themselves. Not us. So when given the choice to actually protect us? They say NO, we don't want to go that far.
**My understanding from one of the employees I mentioned this to before talking to the front end supervisor is that for all of the Costcos in the area it is up to the manager as to whether or not they will require their employees to wear masks or gloves. So if you care about you're health and you want to visit a Costco, maybe give them a call first to find out about their policy.
Do your research, Costco. Masks protect those around you, not yourself. So what if the Governor doesn't require it? You should be leading the way. I for one will not be back to Costco until this all blows over. And I seriously doubt I will ever visit this...
Read moreI am only giving this two stars because it is my neighborhood Costco I have been going to for years, and two all the other employees who work here were pleasant and shouldn’t be bundled in with this one rude employee. Otherwise it would get 5 stars.
I have used my mother’s Costco card multiple times without ever having any issues. Today i went in, got my TWO food items with help of the staff and went up to the registers. No issues.
The cashier immediately asked “where” my card was instead of asking if I had it with me. The card was right there in my hand.... She wasn’t even done with the transaction in front of me when she asked where my card was. I handed it to here and she immediately looks at the picture than looks back at me. She turns to the employee who is boxing items and makes it apparent that it isn’t my card. The employees tells her I only have a few items it doesn’t matter. Mind you the cashier has taken at least 45 seconds of everyone’s time trying to be super slooth.
The cashier stairs at the employee with a disgusted look and says “sometimes I wonder”. She finally boxed up the items and than when she is done ringing me up and hands me back the card, without making any eye contact says “next time she needs to be here with you”. With the rudest attitude.
First of all I understand there are policy’s but.... I was buying two items... Costco cards are not credit cards. Secondly make eye contact with a person where is your customer service skills? I am 20 years old and even I know it’s rude and cowardly not to make eye contact. And finally. There are 10 different ways she could have said that nicely to me.. especially because she took a 20 second transaction and made into a two minute transaction with her drama. Not to mention the line of families behind me.
What if my mother was handi capable or wasn’t able to make it to Costco? How about you politely explain your procedures? There is no reason to say it in such a tone that you talk down to someone.
So unfortunate that she felt the need to be rude and take something so simple to a place it didn’t need to go. Reallly upsetting when all of the other employees who work here are always kind and respectful. One always has to ruin...
Read moreI love Costco! But this particular Costco on Beardsley could really use a visit by corporate to check the management and employee training is up to Costco standards, for example:
Employees in electronics just stand around socializing with vendors and act inconvenienced if a customer needs something. Then they are abrupt and rude. The Costco is one of the least crowded in the greater Phoenix area but can have the longest checkout lines. On the days they assign people to help customers go through self-checkout… those employees seem inexperienced with checkout and slow it down. There is a lot of turnover in the checkout personnel resulting in more errors. One day the employee forgot to scan one of my items (they didn’t know how to find the cost for a pineapple) and then other employees at the door treated me like a criminal for the checkout person’s mistake. This Costco doesn’t manage their fruit and vegetable inventory well. Instead of disposing of the vegetables that have started to rot… they have an employee put them back in the bin lower down so a less observant customer might buy them. I see this happening almost every day when I visit and it has made me very untrusting in the quality of their products. This Costco lacks some of the popular Asian products (e.g. poke, variety of frozen dumplings, etc.) that are common at other Costco’s in Phoenix despite the fact this will be the closest Costco to the new TSMC plant (and the biggest concentration of potential customers in the greater Phoenix area). I know wild fish often has live worms in it, but I still find it disgusting. If they are having issues with the supply chain then maybe they could focus on more flash frozen IFF fish. In the meantime, I'll go to New Tokyo Market. the food court is often dirty with trash cans overflowing, spilled food/drinks and trash on the dispensers and floor They often have things blocking spaces in the parking lot so they can’t be used for parking (e.g. trailer, product, carts), which in turn exacerbates the traffic. Often the cart lanes in the parking lot are overflowing and blocking the lot and roads… even first thing in the morning before any customers...
