My best advice: educate yourself before signing anything with these guys. They'll certainly install anything you ask for (I first tried solar, that was not enough to heat my pool, then put in an electric pump for "dual heating") and then leave you to figure it out. I have a sizable ~25K gallon pool so yeah it's a tricky situation....but don't rely on them to help you figure out a real solution.
I think the team is solid and executes well. Nick (office manager?) tried, Fermin (field service tech?) tried, Jamie (owner) also tried. They communicate, install as promised and on the day scheduled, do a neat and tidy job...and then we'll see if the pool heats up. If it doesn't (and it didn't for me for both solar and electric) the great service drops off. They'll promise 80-85 degrees in a few days with cold weather accounted for and when it does not happen, good luck to you. Now I have solar panels on my roof and a big electric heating unit (~$20K+ sunk) that won't heat to 80-85 degrees unless I figure out something with another pool company (any advice here, Yelp community?)
I installed solar in Sept 2023 and it never got above 65F, even when it was 99F outside. 3 months of back and forth, they sent Fermin out to check it out...."yeah sure it's all set up correctly"...and the temp never improved. Then I was told to try adding an electric pump, and I trusted them and gave it a shot....Jan 2024, was promised 80-85 in less than 6 days by both Fermin and Jamie via texts...nope, never happened, topped out at 73F.
FYI this is for an Airbnb. Don't take my word for it, I've had all pool-using guests complain and show me the pool temp themselves.
If you have a simple, small pool that is fairly shallow, then their straight line solution will probably work. If you have any doubts....research, research, research before you commit. Good luck to everyone out there wanting to heat...
Read moreWe received estimates for solar pool heating panels from multiple different companies and ultimately chose Fenix because their estimate was, by far, the most comprehensive and professional. Laurie and Kyle were amazingly helpful in getting everything set up, and they surpassed our expectations throughout the installation process with their great communication. Probably one of the best customer service experiences that we have had. James and his crew did a great job at installation, and they were friendly and open with us throughout the installation process. Combination of the heating system and a solar pool cover has already raised our pool temperature from low 60's to 84 in a little over a week (despite the cold Tucson nights). If you are looking for a solar pool heating system, we highly recommend Fenix!
UPDATE 6/3/2025 I hate to provide this kind of an update, but maybe it will be helpful for potential customers in the Tucson area (where we are). While we do enjoy the heating system and the initial service that Fenix provided, our follow up requests for some problems that happened afterwards have been mostly ignored. It is difficult to have anybody return a phone call, text, or email. We did finally get someone out for some warranty work a year ago. However, before our 2 year parts & labor warranty expired I tried to contact someone regarding some valve issues. Despite multiple attempts from my end, I never received any sort of response. Now, the warranty window has expired. They may be a better option if you're up in the Phoenix area. However, if you're in Tucson area, I would definitely not recommend. There are more local options that seem to be more responsive and dependable on follow up (with longer labor warranties). We wish we had gone with one...
Read moreFenix Pool Solar & Mist is a great company to work with. I had a solar heat system added to my pool this spring. The lead time between signing the contract and getting the system installed was less than two weeks. The team added a new valve that is controlled by my Pentair panel, so, the system is set and forget. This ended up getting my swimming season started about a month early. Their response to problems is also outstanding. After a few months, the pipe pushing pool water to the roof for heating developed a leak. I called Fenix, they asked for pictures (so they could make sure they brought the right parts), and then came out and fixed the problem two days later. This is great response, especially considering this is prime pool time and I'm sure they are very busy. If you're in the market for solar pool heating to extend your swim season, you won't go...
