I found EL JOEL Salon by searching the internet for the best salon in Phoenix. Joel’s salon was at the top of the list. I had long gray / dark brown thick hair. I used to call my hair “witches hair”. I emailed the salon and scheduled my appointment. I was only wanting a trim. I was greeted by the receptionist and sat down. Joel my hairdresser introduced himself to me. He put out his arm and led me to his station. We discussed my hair in detail and the stage was set. Joel again put out his arm and led me to his wonderful assistant who shampooed my hair. Joel gave me the most wonderful haircut and style. My hair went from long, thick unmanageable hair to medium length, manageable hair. I have had long hair for many years. So this was a major deal for me. I felt so pampered and comfortable with Joel and his assistant, almost as if I had known them for years. There is so much more to say, but not enough space. Joel gave me styling tips for my new do. I broke my left arm in Earle August, and I still don’t have full use of my arm, so this new hairstyle is perfect for me. I have not had to style or brush my hair since. Just a little fluffing, and I am ready to go. When I arrived home, my mom about fell out of her chair. She said that this new style must have been made just for me. She will be booking an appointment with Joel in the future. For 20 years, I thought I had a good hair style. Then my hairdresser left town and I was lucky enough to find Joel the driving force behind Salon Jo-El and now I don't "think", I KNOW my hair style is GREAT. I never fail to receive compliments on how my hair looks.

From the moment you walk into Salon Jo-El, you are treated as a special customer. Their wonderful, smiling receptionist makes a point of calling you by your name as soon as you walk in and asking if you want anything to drink. The stylist giving you a shampoo makes sure you're comfortable and does a perfect job of massaging your head as they clean your hair.

And finally you're escorted back to a chair to have your perfect style given to you by Joel. I've been going to Joel for my cuts for over a year and a half and have found my permanent home. He has taken my "okay" style and has elevated it to a one that makes me look youthful, sophisticated, and just plain great.

I get a style that's right for me and one I can easily recreate at home. So I don't just look good when I walk out their door, but when I walk out of mine as well.

Ahh! Can’t say enough great things about this salon! After years of damaged hair and being unhappy with different stylist, I was referred to Salon Jo/el by a friend I cannot be happier that I had the chance to go! My stylist’s name was Tara And she is the first person to get my hair exactly like I wanted it in such a long time! I showed her a picture of what I was looking for and she took over. You can really tell that she is a master at her craft! I walked out feeling so beautiful and have gotten so many compliments since then on my hair!! If you are looking for a new hair Salon, I highly recommend and most definitely ask for Tara!!!

Update: Still 5 stars for Salon Jo/el! Came in again but wanted something completely different and Tara did not disappoint! She used her knowledge and expertise to fix the awful job I did during a moment of insanity that I took out on my hair. I left feeling so beautiful, happy, and confident like always! All I had to say was do what you think is best and she did not disappoint.
