Me and my family came here Thursday may 12th. I hyped this place up so much to my out of state family bc we wanted somewhere chill and fun to go to and I suggested this restaurant bc of the outside area, the giant mules, and relaxed atmosphere. My mom made the reservation well in advance and requested outside for 13 of us. When we got there, they seated us inside and only fit 10 of us. So I went to the host stand and told them the concern. They luckily were still able to get us seated outside right away. Everything was great until halfway through. One of us was only drinking water and the server never once came to refill it, she barely checked on us at all.. no big tho, I know everywhere is short staffed so we’re understanding. The real problem came towards the end of the night. She informed us that she can’t split the check. She can only take separate payments that the host should have told us that. So we had to sit there for at least another 25 minutes after we were ready to leave, with small children, to do the math of what everyone owed.. she also gave us so much attitude it was astounding. We finally got that done and one of the other split checks was paid in cash. It ended in one cent, and she said she couldn’t make change. She already didn’t deserve the 65 dollar added gratuity let alone another dollar from us. If she wasn’t so rude it would have fine.. so she gave us more attitude and was like just like okay! It’s fine! Have a great night! Couldn’t have been any more sarcastic. We were literally shocked that a server would even behave the way she did. So we finally start to leave, I go inside and she walks by and almost shoulder checks me, I had to step out of the way. Soo unprofessional. I feel embarrassed to have suggested this place for my family. This server was absolutely terrible. I have her name, but don’t agree with bashing someone online. So if a manager has any concern for what happened I will gladly tell them. But I’m so disappointed in what happened bc I have been here multiple times with my daughter and we haven’t had issues. We had the Bang-Bang shrimp which was cold or barely warm and the crab raggons were not raggons at all . It was a cheese did with no crab meat and it was salty. He ordered a burger and I had slidders which was re-made because it was not how I ordered them. My Margarita had to me made over because it was nothing like the first one. I ended up ordering a shot of Grand Mariner since the second Margarita was missing it. We had to pay additional money for that. We were seated fast however had to wait at least 15 minutes before the waitress came to the table. The manager did take off for the slidders which I only ate two because my appetite was gone and from me being disappointed . The worst part is we both ended up with food poisoning the next day!!! I went back and read some of the bad reviews. The Porch must be cutting corners when preparing and making food.They are definitely Re-heating food which takes away from alot of things especially the safety of the food. The service needs to adjusted because seating someone and making them wait long periods of time is bad customer service. Nevertheless we will not be coming back to The porch our first and last time here .We paid way too much money for food poisoning!!! Response to the general manager comment: I really don't appreciate being called a liar! When there are clearly more than more that one comment concerning how the food is prepared at your establishment. I maybe the first person to get food poisoning from here but I am 100% certain I won't be the last. I am also 100% positive that the food poisoning came from here being that I didn't have anything to eat prior to coming here. I will not be back and there is nothing you can do to make this right. My fiancé and I both got the border bowl which came on our plate as white rice, black beans, and pico with about a teaspoon of what appeared to be sour cream. It wasn’t cilantro lime crema as advertised. Plus a little side of some blended “salsa” I guess, it looked weird. The size appeared as though they split one bowl in half between the two of us. We didn’t even eat the food and ended up throwing it out. I should have gotten a refund after seeing what we were served for $24… It’s a little too dim for my taste. Also the staff didn’t really acknowledge us or ask us if we needed anything else.. They were not as friendly as the better places. From the outside appearance and the business photos it looked a little okay.. Upon entering, however, the atmosphere is not welcoming, not the people nor the place. Would never eat here again and would not recommend at all. I would have given zero stars if I could for the fact that I paid them for nothing. Extremely dissatisfied, waste of time and one of the worst dining experiences. I was too upset to think to take a picture before I threw out the food.
Hey Lisa, I appreciate you reaching out. If you’re truly willing to make it up to me a refund would be nice. We’d already driven all the way across town and driving all the way back would have been even more of an inconvenience. I shouldn’t have had to drive all the way back to The Porch location or call with a complaint or write a poor review, the food should have been a great experience. For me, however, it was not.
