2018-2021 my family lived in the apartments that are now called 60 by Melrose and omg we would go to this store multiple times a day for random candy/ice cream/scratchers/smokes/incense and most importantly fountain soda which I badgered the owner until I convinced him to add diet Dr pepper in the fountain it took me close to a year but I finally won and I was SO excited because he actually heard my dissertations every day about why it was a great idea to add it and HE DID. Moving out of that neighborhood had to happen for multiple reasons, one being the traumatizing violent death of my best friend/nanny I could not go anywhere without the ghost of her memory following me it started really affecting me and the only way for my husband to pull me out of it was to get my out of that area. All these years later and my kids and I STILL talk about this store, how beloved it is, how missed it is, and wondering if Bob still owns it because we are planning to visit soon and it would be so effing cool to see him again and for my now almost teenage kids (they were 5 and 7 when we moved to the neighborhood) to relive a bit of the magic that was/is the Melrose Neighborhood and Sunrise Market. They say you can never go home, but what you CAN do is visit the little store on the corner that we called The Corner Store and let the memories wash over us like the happiest most painful and at the same time healing wave of the ocean. It may sound lame to anyone that takes the time to read this, how can a convenient store have such an impact on two small kids and their parents? My answer is this: you had to be there, had to live it, had to create so many core memories swirling around us with this store part of it all and even though I know the reality of this time of my life, something deep in my soul hopes we will walk into the store and Lori will be standing by the incense display, her Bluetooth speaker around her wrist waiting for the kids and I to meet up for the days shenanigans we had planned. Bob and company were always good to us, if they had a bad day I could never tell and I will recommend this store above all others for the rest of time. You can't go wrong, I wish them all the customers in Arizona and can't wait to hopefully visit this weekend. Thank you Bob and all the staff of that time for owning the corner store and just for being you. I hope you are all doing well and look forward to our trip...
Read moreOk first off to last comment I also am a immune compromised individual. They have a plexiglass wall that keeps them from us. The owner BOB { who you would know that if you are a regular and Cathy} are very polite and respectful. He is normally always wearing a mask. Bob is the type of person who when I needed a lightbulb i had hoped they sell them he gave me one of his from the bathroom. When i freaked out and couldn't find lysol anywhere Bob went into the back and brought out two cansiters from his own inventory and sold them to me. He always makes sure coffee is brewed for me at night even when no one else is buying because i need it for my late shifts. My friends and i who are bartenders in the melrose district swear by them. All the staff there are kind and curteous and go above and beyond in their customer service...if you haven't gone to Sunrise its a great neighborhood store!!!!!!!!!!!!...
Read moreThis is our corner store and we LOVE it! Bob, the owner is the nicest down to earth guy. It took me almost a year but I finally convinced him to put diet Dr pepper in the fountain😄I was so happy. The food in the deli is great, store is ALWAYS clean and stocked (except when I buy out all the Swedish fish lol), and Bob plus staff are so friendly and helpful. They are also proactive with keeping themselves and the public safe with dividers at the registers, masks etc. I saw some crazy jerk left a bad review accusing them of not wearing masks, but I can attest that they wear masks and are behind a divider. The next step would be an isolation pod. Give it a rest. I go there every day sometimes more than once and have never seen any of them do ANYTHING that would be harmful to themselves or the customers. So stop in there and check it out. They are awesome! (No I don't work here. Just a very...
