Today me and my fiancé came here to try out this restaurant for the first time. First impression from walking inside, I liked the theme but I was quickly met with frustration and rudeness from the cash register employee. She had no name tag so I don’t know her name, but I originally wanted a beef taco fried bread that includes beef, cheese and lettuce. That was in the menu. The employee said “so just the beef?” To I replied “no, I thought it came with beef, cheese and lettuce?” She then said “oh well if you’re gonna get those toppings then do you wanna get the ultimate instead?” At that point I was frustrated enough and agreed with it because I was hungry and I was done dealing with her.
The nice thing was that we didn’t have to spend to much time waiting for our food since it only took a few minutes to reach our table. I did notice that the employee that was bringing our food had gloves on which was nice.
Once we started to eat our food I was surprised on how fresh the vegetables are but was disappointed on how the beef and beans tasted. They were bland and tasted as if they been previously cooked a few days ago then cooked again to be served which I do not appreciate because we both gotten sick after eating.
The icing on the cake was a bird, it was just 1 bird and it walked into the restaurant twice! It literally walked through the doors and no it did not fly in. The bird was so comfortable that it did not mind being right next to someone to get some food. It walked out and I thought it was funny along with several other people that were eating inside. The employees didn’t notice it came through because no one was there at the moment. The second time was concerning, the bird walked inside again and that’s when I started to wonder if they have been feeding this bird repeatedly because it was a little too comfortable and tamed hanging around the area. Somebody finally noticed a bird and attempted to try to walk it out (as in and look like she was trying to redirect the bird) but the bird didn’t like it, and started to fly onto the window and hitting a customer that was in the middle of eating her meal. Obviously that customer was upset and wanted her food to be remade and at first they said “well we can make you a discounted plate” refused to offer her a plate for free and didn’t acknowledge that the bird was there.
Obviously the customer service is horrible and I have photo evidence that the bird was there so if you’re looking to eat fry bread then I highly suggest you to find...
Read moreI really loved their fry bread in the past but haven't been here in a few years. The Fry Bread tacos are amazing however our experience tonight was not. 3 people in my party arrived at 5pm to sit at a table that was meant for 2. A few minutes later someone got up and we moved to a table for 4 as another guest was joining us and both the tables were dirty. No employees wiping anything down. Our final guest arrived about 5:10pm, we talked for 10 minutes and went to order at 5:20pm. 2 fry bread tacos with powdered sugar and honey, 1 fry bread taco with beans, beef and cheese and 1 fry bread taco with beef, beans, cheese, and sour cream. We talked for awhile and I was facing the front counter/line where I was sitting at our table. I saw 3 different groups come in and order after us and get their food before us, one even ate his meal and left ! My party said maybe they ordered online. I checked twice with the woman cashier and she told me that it would be right out both times. This was around 5:50pm and 5:55pm. I understand it's Friday and I didn't realize how long we were talking at the table. The third time we went to check after they brought out someone else's order, they said they had to bring it up again in the system- So they lost the order! When they brought food about 5 minutes later they gave us a free fry bread with powdered sugar (which was a nice thought but we already had 2) but the two fry bread tacos were incorrect. One had lettuce and one had no beans. We brought this to their attention and they did finally fix the food, however this was close to an hour after we originally ordered. We were very fed up with the whole situation and disappointed 😞 We had traveled 35 minutes to get there from Anthem in traffic and planned on going to a store near by after we ate. Since they took so long with everything, the store was closed by the time they were done messing everything up at the restaurant. We spent almost $70 on this horrible experience, and the food was nowhere near the quality we were used to here. When inquiring about a refund when fixing our order, they told us we were already eating the food as we inquired when they were fixing their mistakes as half our party ate. Not going to be a returning customer. I will find fry...
Read moreThe Fry Bread House held a coveted spot on my Triple D "must-try" list, and today, I finally ventured in with high hopes. I opted for the Combo Taco with Red Chili and Green Salsa ($14.50), a dish that certainly delivered in sheer size. It was a behemoth, a meal unto itself. However, my attempt to eat it as a traditional taco quickly devolved into a culinary wrestling match.
The fry bread, while undeniably tender and flavorful, simply lacked the structural integrity to contain the generous, wet fillings. After managing about a third of the taco, the fry bread surrendered, bursting under the weight of the contents, forcing me to resort to a fork and knife. The red chili, beans, and lettuce were undeniably tasty, though surprisingly mild. The real star, however, was the green salsa - a vibrant, tangy explosion of flavor that cut through the richness of the other components. (If I had to guess, I'd say it had a base of tomatillos and cilantro with a hint of jalapeño).
While the overall taste profile was a winner, the execution of the Combo Taco as a handheld experience was a major letdown. It was a delicious, albeit messy, affair.
For my next visit, I'm definitely leaning towards one of their stews, served with the fry bread on the side, allowing me to savor its texture without the structural challenges.
The late lunch crowd on this Friday was heavy, and the noise level inside was very high. Having a conversation was nearly impossible due to the noise. The Fry Bread House needs a better system to link up customers to their orders...calling out names in the already noisey environment just adds to noise level.
Completely satiated by the generous portion, I took home a fry bread with powdered sugar for a later treat. While the taco presentation didn't quite meet expectations, the quality of the ingredients and the exceptional green salsa make The Fry Bread House worth a visit - just perhaps not...
