I love the German American Society. Since starting to come to events and joining clubs, it's become such a special place to me. I've been a part of it for over a year now and I plan to continue to volunteer and support them for many, many more. I'm actually writing a review only now to directly combat the review written before this one. I was volunteering at the event she came to - which was not advertised as a DJ Night and was instead a Krampus Event that happened to have a DJ - when she came up to me near hysterical and crying. She demanded to know why she paid "all that money" to "stand on the grass for hours." It was a very crowded event, and as it is the first time the German club hosted such an event, we were prepared for about 200 people. Almost one thousand came. There were fire dancers, full body Krampus cosplays walking around to interact with guests, and a few vendors for people to look around at. In her angry fervor, she asked if there was anything I could do because we absolutely ruined her Friday night. This was at 8pm. I was simply vending, so I told her there wasn't. She ran off, threatening to leave terrible reviews of our little non-profit. I'm glad everyone else at the event seemed to have a wonderful time, and I'm truly sorry she didn't. As for the "they don't pay their employees" and "Germany isn't poor" comments, volunteers are here willingly to show our support for something we care about. They do pay employees. And Germany is not poor, but we are not Germany. The German club is a non-profit just trying to support itself, and there's a lot of expenses trying to bring people in and host events. I hope she got to gather herself after she stormed off, and maybe if she comes back again, she'll eventually come to see it the way I do. It's a unique little place, but everyone who is a part of it puts their whole hearts into it. Because of that, it's filled with wonderful people. I hope everyone stops by to give it...
Read moreDon't waste your time going to their scam events. They charged $8 get in, when there was no place to stand or park your car. Then they had over 1 hour long wait times for drinks and food. By the time I got to the food, they were mostly sold out and had only 1 choice left for food. It was pathetic to stand in the cold and wait. They didn't even pay their staff, they are volunteers. So where the money going? They claim to be a non-profit. Germany isn't poor. They wasted my Friday. Their event was called DJ Night and it was...
Read moreThey are NOT FAIR. I went there only to eat Wiener schnitzel. They were celebrating Oktoberfest. They were Open till 10:00pm Fri and Sat. I got there at 9:00pm and paid $10 to enter the event. I paid $14 for the meal. I got in line and was told the were out of Wiener schnitzel, I wanted my money back. They gave me the $14. The WWII Type President LIED TO ME and said the entrance could not be refunded! I told him he could as they only did cash transactions so there was not written record...
