I tried to donate a table, chairs, treadmill, pedestal sink, and TV stand. The two gentlemen said that the chairs were in extremely rough condition, TV stand missing rear panels (for where the wire pass through, not something anyone sees) Treadmill he said was to dirty and they don't accept pedastal sinks. I saw a similar occurrence happening by someone else in the comments trying to donate to the SA but Salvation Army responded, saying they NOW have high standards and have huge disposal cost and therefore, they are more judgemental of items being donated. However I worked at the Salvation Army for 3 months in 2023 as a driver of a truck. Items that aren't in great condition are sold in lots to those who bid on them. SA only threw away absolutely disgusting furniture that was beyond repair and/or actual garbage. I had picked up these items and ironically I had a driver out right lie to my face today. My items are most definitely sellable but the driver, I can tell just didn't want to bother with it. (Laziness is also a sin) I didn't appreciate reading that SA replied to that other person mentioning God/Bible but then they tell a lie which is oxymoronic and a huge ass Sin. SA is using the Lord's name in vain, in that you are representing yourself as someone who represents Christianity and then knowingly making false statements. This is not how Christ expects you to walk in his footsteps and spread his word, and bringing people to Christianity. Stop bearing...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs an employee of almost 4 years at this location, and reading the reviews. The clothing, and furniture and other things come to the store already priced. We work people as much as possible about better bargains. Everyday there is a sale. Clothing is not sized onto the racks on the sales floor because there are not enough people to make that happen. We (3 people if we are lucky) have to sort over 5,000 pieces of clothing a day, in a crammed space. We try to keep the store as organized as possible and havenāt had the man power to re organize the floor. A lot of the clothing is out of place. So even if the clothes were sized, that too would become unorganized with customers putting things into the wrong places. Retail isnāt easy and we are trying the best we can. If the prices are too high, talk to an employee or management and we can work out a better deal. We are very understanding. I promise. Like I said, retail isnāt easy, but we are here to help. Thank you. And thank you to the regulars that I see that always strike up a conversation with me even when Iām having a bad day and look unapproachable. Itās always the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love this thrift store - itās thoughtfully organized, they do fun deals, and Iāve found some great items. The woman with the colorful hair is always helpful and nice. The rest of the staff as well, I enjoy the banter/conversation we have made and they often help me find things and do a wonderful job of organizing.
However ā I felt it wasnāt my place to mention until now, but the place has been awfully hot for a while. Today in particular, it was so terribly hot I asked my partner to drive my car home I was so dizzy. I then proceeded to vomit once home after blasting the air and sipping on vitamin water.
Iād normally not leave a āpoorā review, hence the five stars I do love the place and donāt intend to upset the rating, but for the sake of the workers there and the elderly ā please fix your AC soon. Iām sure it is under wraps and on its way but Iāve noticed the heat on occasions prior - this was particularly bad. I hope Salvation Army is finding the best ways they can to keep their employees hydrated and comfortable. I understand you do not legally need AC in Florida, but again, voicing merely...
