Outdoor Supply Hardware — Local services in Pismo Beach

I generally like this store and I am a regular customer. Today, I went in to get a few things including an electric sander. After looking at the available sanders, I saw that they had a Makita belt sander listed for 169. After tracking down an employee, they grabbed the item and said it would be at the register as I needed to obtain the requisite sand paper. Once at the register, the sander came up at $369.00. I thought at first the perhaps it was the battery powered product and asked them to get the listed product. They stated that the only plug in Makita Sander was the display model. He went and boxed that product and brought it back to the register where it again ran up 369. We went back to the display item where the price tag clearly said 169. He stated that they would have to honor that price but then he pulled off the tag where the previous price was 369. He then said he would give me 10% off of 369. I stated that I was not interested in paying that as I was originally in the market for about a $100 sander. He stated he could not honor the listed price as he "would get in trouble". Needless to say, I said no thank you and thank you for wasting 20 minutes of my time. Time to re-visit ACE and True Value in...

In terms of OSH's, they are rather lacking in asking if you need help. Usually, if I am in an OSH for more than 15 minutes, someone will ask if they can help...not this time. On the other hand, there were other people helping others, but I felt it was more like HD. Since you do pay more at OSH, it has a nicer environment, you do come to expect stellar service. Fortunately, there was minimal line wait. I have had better experiences in the area at either ACE or the Farm...

The guy who answers the phone is so nice, and he checks to make sure you’re connected to whatever department. Also, the guy in the department that stocks grip tape gave me the size and prices as well as a great tip for making the tape stickier (blow dry/heat gun the tape side before putting it down, then lay a book or something on it for awhile).
