Insider Eats — Local services in Pittsburgh

I’ve ordered from Insider Eats several times now. The first time was Polish food featuring delicious pierogies, the second time was Lebanese with falafel and hummus, and this time it was Mexican, via one of my favorite local restaurants, La Palapa on South Side. I love this startup’s mission of delivering authentic global cuisine to Pittsburgh homes and helping to support first-generation chefs who are running small businesses here.

When you go to the Insider Eats website, you look at the many menus and figure out which cuisine you want. I like how the chefs are featured here, reminding you of the people behind the businesses. After you place your order, you get a text letting you know it’s been received and they are at work preparing it, another letting you know your driver is on the way, and finally one to let you know it has been delivered. I was surprised that they were somehow able to keep my hot items hot while simultaneously delivering ice cream still frozen in the same bag.

I already knew I would love my food items, which included fajitas (one veggie with soyrizo, the other chicken), stuffed poblanos with spinach and cheese, nachos with two salsas, and churros with the aforementioned ice cream, as I’ve had these items at the restaurant before. Everything was as delicious as I expected and it was a real treat to have it delivered to my home, especially as I would likely be out of the delivery area for this restaurant if not for...

Tried Bombay to Burgh through Insider Eats and it was great!! I love the whole concept of their delivery service. It's really cool seeing the face and hearing the stories behind the food you are ordering. I also like that there aren't a bunch of random, added fees like some other delivery services.

This is a great excuse to try a new, unique restaurant in the burgh! I like that they are always changing the restaurants.

Only downside is that it doesn't give the full menu options from the restaurant. For example: I love the empanadas from Arepittas, but they don't deliver those through Insider Eats. They just delivery other things like apps and the arepas! There might be a reason for this though, so can't...

This was my first time ordering from @insider.eats and something tells me it’s not going to be the last! The online ordering platform is so user-friendly. They take the time to highlight each chef’s story, making the already authentic cuisine even more unique.

We decided on a few savory empanada options, like ham & cheese and spicy buffalo chicken. The crunch of the outside pastry was incredible: it tasted as though we just pulled them out of our own oven! ♨️
