A clear, star-lit morning welcomed people, PAT buses, and the early morning risers waiting for the Everyday Cafe to open. As I walked past Westinghouse football field and the Homewood swimming pool, up the steps to cross the walk bridge over the PATWay and down to Westinghouse Park, it was easy to be reminded how fortunate we are to live in the City of Pittsburgh - where within walking distance of your home, you can visit a Carnegie Library, the YMCA, Dana's Bakery, PNC Bank, Salik's Hardware, CCAC, University of Pittsburgh's Community Engagement Center and more. The industrialists, businesses and philanthropists of long ago planned well and left us a jewel for respite by establishing Westinghouse Park, an oasis in the midst of the residential area of Homewood South & Point Breeze. Fairly level, a good walking area and well lit and maintained, you can feel comfortable walking the dog, getting a morning workout run in or sipping coffee while watching the trains go by. Large oak trees dot a grassy venue which allows for city woodland setting. Two blocks in either direction, north or south, will take you to Penn or Hamilton Avenues where you can access frequent bus service or take a short walk to the Homewood East Busway stop and be in downtown Pittsburgh within minutes. Take a moment to ENJOY - YOU'RE ALWAYS WELCOME! 🌳🌿🌹🐾🌞 Situated in the heart of Zones 5 and 4, City of Pittsburgh Police/Public Safety.

This park is enormous and really open. The playground here is good. There isn't any restroom facility here, looks like the old one has been boared up for years. The large openness is what makes this park good. There isn't much in it but grass, trees and squirrels. Expect to see some of the neighborhood kids there they are friendly and about 6 and 9. If your lucky your kidos might even make friends and leave you alone for a little.

I love Westinghouse Park and it’s Yari’s fav spot to catch some sun rays, obviously. I’ve previously referred to it as my peaceful escape in the middle of the city. Don’t walk your littles too early AM though, coyotes are know to roam this area.

I lived on Meade Street as a child. My Mother would walk us the park to Play, feed the squirrels and pigeons, play on the swings, and my favorite was watching the trains in the switching yard and the loading docks of the Westinghouse plant adjacent to the tracks. We would go to Stutz's (I am not sure of the spelling) for peanuts when the budget allowed and the squirrels were always back for more when we had fresh, roasted peanuts! I have many happy memories of hours and days spent there. The Thomas Boulevard side of the park was lined with cherry trees and were spectacular when they bloomed...
