It must be nice to be insanely rich, and never throw out any of your old cars, because they are one of a kind, handmade, or groundbreaking. The car and carriage museum has a number of the fricks personal cars, as well as some really interesting ones like Stanley steamers, old race cars, and I mean really old, an electric car dating from the turn of the last century, carriages, sleighs, cabrioles, and a really interesting collection of hood ornaments! Back when automobiles were a toy or tool of the rich, they were also handcrafted, and gorgeous.

A small, intimate museum with an absolutely beautiful collection if vehicles and hood ornaments. I was greated very warmly and chatted with the woman at the desk. There were also two other staff members who could answer questions I had. I visited on a wednesday afternoon and had the place to myself. There is a dozen or so vehicles, which are either restored or amazing condition considering their age. Lots of different jood ornaments, some if which I assume are quite rare. A wonderful treat for any car enthusiast.

The Car and Carriage Museum at The Frick Pittsburgh is a fascinating display of the Frick family's modes of transportation over the years. The vehicles are absolutely beautiful and you can really get up close to them to admire every detail. Admission is FREE which is incredible for a collection of this calibre. There are lots of helpful signs explaining the history of each item, who it was built by, and how it was used by the family. There is even a car you can sit in. Highly recommended!
