I want to start by saying that I always loved this Meijer. Iāve spent tens of thousands of dollars there, and so itās sad how far itās gone down hill.
There are still some polite people that worked here but after ages of not coming in the past year, I went to grab a couple items since I was nearby. Meijer prices ring up wrong at least 20% of the time for me lately, so I go to the scanner to check stuff. The scanner didnāt work and the most impossibly rude person on the planet, named Mary, who was dressed as a manager⦠well I asked her to help me since the scanner wasnāt working. Meijer price scanners are frequently out-of-service so I asked her to check prices on three items. She saidā¦. Just use the scannerā¦. I told her it wasnāt working, and was saying āitem unavailableā⦠she told me it was just one item, even though I assured her Iād scanned each item and all had said the same. She scanned the items herself and finally says āoh, it must be offlineā.., keep in mind her tone was horrific through all this. Then she asks me why I didnāt just read the shelf tags. She asked me this three times! The lego I found wasnāt even in the lego aisle, and Iām including a photo of the transformer section, which I actually tidied up because it was so bad. Then she tells me the prices. The two that were in the right section did NOT ring up correctly. Iām at a loss. How desperate are they to hire someone like this?
Now on to Payment. I go to pay and I had a $10 credit. I start using it and it cashes out my transaction $6 into checking out, even though I didnāt press anything to initiate that. Neither did the cashier who was hand typing in a clearance code for me. She, at least, was apologetic, but made zero effort to credit me the other $4 from that credit. Prices are ridiculous at Meijer now. It was once called āMeijer thrifty acresā, and now they charge more for regular items than any of the competing stores, including Buschās and fresh Thyme and Kroger. Green mountain coffee is nasty, and the 12 k cups at Kroger are $5.99. They charge almost $3 more at Meijer. I just donāt see myself going back. The bottle return closes at like six pmā¦. At least last time I wentā¦. I just canāt anymore. Terrible prices, terrible customer service, nothing where it should be⦠what less could...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had never shopped at Meijer's until a move to the area about 6 months ago and thatās about all it took to decide I wouldnāt be giving my business to the store, Iād drive further and spend more for an item if applicable to not shop here. The employees in store are literally as nice as can be- they might not be able to answer simple questions about purchasing stamps or where a major items are within the store but definitely nice and polite. My issue is with Meijer itself as a business. The curbside grocery service is a JOKE on multiple occasions 50% of my $200+ grocery order was out of stock but you wonāt know this until you wait in the curbside pickup line to pickup your order at the store. If you purchase something and itās canceled due to lack of stock, you can literally immediately repurchase- nothing is done to update item availability. Thereās no point to using the website to determine an items availability in store either- itās ALWAYS wrong. Iāve waited in line for grocery pickup for nearly an hour (donāt go after 5 pm). If Meijerās inaccurately fills your grocery order, IE they fail to include multiple items you were charged for, the ONLY way to be refunded is by calling their corporate location and itās a long wait and a long phone call to receive your refund. Also, their corporate team seems confused about how to issue refunds and might direct you to calling the wrong outlets until you finally receive the correct information. Even when youāre charged for items you didnāt receive, have to make 3 separate calls, write an email detailing your experiences while youāre on hold for the third time, and spend approximately 2 hours on the phone to receive refunds, nothing is offered other than a semi sincere āsorryā, no coupons, no discounts, no real attempts made to keep your business. Also, expect hefty wait times if you call the store. The app to scan and pay for your groceries as you shop is defective too. It always requires employee assistance who always end up rescanning at least half/all of your items. Honestly, shop somewhere else. Target has a way better curbside pick up option. Their store is nicer and right across the street. You wonāt have issues if Target is at fault for order inadequacies and the price...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went back to this location recently--December 2019. After what some employees mentioned was a renovation costing in the tens of millions of dollars, this place looks and feels great. I went in there to get some baby supplies (Is that an awkward way of saying it....?) and was surprised by how much bigger and nicer that section is now. It made me recall how Babies R Us is now closed and how hard that made it to get baby stuff you need on the spot. The toy section is now next to the back-section of the groceries while the pet section that was there previously has taken over and greatly expanded on what used to be the back corner electronics section.
They really went all out to redo this store as it looks like they tore up, repoured, and repaved the entire parking lot. I'm not sure, but I think they painted the ceilings?? Is that a thing for big grocery stores??
I wrote two years ago that this location used to be better kept, but I didn't see anything that made me think that way this time. Maybe, the place just needed some sprucing up, as it had been exactly the same as I remembered it being more than ten years ago.
Okay. Well, I figured that, if I'm going to say a place isn't well kept, I should also mention when I've noticed they've done something about it. Upped from 3 to 5 on the rating.
Review from December 2017 (below)
This location used to be better kept. I'm not sure what happened and can't quite pinpoint why it doesn't feel quite as...
