I have had positive experiences at other Geek Squad locations, but a very negative experience at this Ann Arbor location. I was told conflicting things by the same associate at the same interaction. Everyone I have spoken to seems to be 20 years old and not 100% confident in what they are telling me or the policies of the store. This has made me very uncomfortable and distrusting of the information they gave me; I feel like that are just spinning tales to placate me. I received an email asking me to call them to give more information on my computer. I called and was put on hold and then hung up/ disconnected TWICE. When I finally got a hold of someone I feel as though they only spoke with me because I was so disgruntled by then. When I did come to pick up my computer they told me that my computer was shipped out to California and then that it was done in store. They lost my original hard dive and couldn't confidently tell me if it was at HP or in store. I got the feeling the information I was getting from them was not reliable and they where not really clear on what actually had happened to my computer while in their care. When I finally got my computer home and looked it over, the rubber grips on the bottom of the computer, which where firmly in place from the manufacturer when dropped off, came back to me pealing off and one had looked like it was glued back on but off center and out of place. I have an expectation that when I send my computer in for repairs it will not come back to me looking worst cosmetically! Additionally, a screw was not screwed down all the way and there appeared to be new small dings on the back. I am displeased with all my interactions at the Ann...
Read moreFrankly, I had a terrible time here. I brought my old laptop to them with a request that they please back up a specific OneNote notebook that I hadn't been able to back up myself, though I had managed to back up everything else on the device. For context, the notebook had functioned as my work calendar, address book, and journal for the past several years. The personnel at the desk said that they'd just go ahead and back up the whole laptop. I replied, sure, as long as they make sure to specifically back up the specific OneNote notebook, since that was the only thing that I actually needed backed up. When I returned for the laptop a few days later, when being checked out, I double checked to make sure the notebook I needed had been backed up. Lo and behold it had not. To her credit, the woman at the desk tried to fix this on the spot. Unfortunately, in her attempt she deleted the notebook. It was unrecoverable. In the future, I would request that the Geek Squad pay attention to their customers' requests and be straightforward about what they can...
Read moreThey took care of my computer in about 5 days. I bought the total geek membership and will be bringing a device every week, for discounted repairs. The only complaint I have is their limited options on Operating System installs. They'll install the top 3, Windows, Apple OS, MAYBE Linux. I'd say their iffy about installing Unraid because their lack of total geek knowledge. Another to note, they can call you, you cannot call them, if you have questions. You'll be rerouted to a number that can only set up appointments, you'll need a walk in appointment for your question. All being said 2/5 stars, the only up side to geek squad is the total geek membership, they are not really total geeks if they refuse to do upgrades to a PC that anybody could do. I could take my PC to the shop down the road they'll install unraid os and I could bring it to you and you won't know what to...
