4.5:) The chicken gyro was delicious. The salad has cut up cucumbers and tomatoes and onions and black olives, and is very fresh- and the amount of feta on top was delightful. I don't typically love feta but theirs was really good. Also, the small size salad was like a large size salad (in my opinion), which will have me coming back here for soups and salads!! The avgolemono (chicken lemon dill) soup was very good, too.
Another visit, I got the lamb souvlaki plate. I enjoyed that, but Lamb can be a little bit fatty/chewy even normally (see below). The tzatziki sauce that comes with it is fantastic (very creamy).
The rice pudding was actually my favorite item. It's one of my ultimate comfort foods. And they give you a very ample portion.
Re: lamb souvlaki: I think it was an ok and well seasoned dish, but, tbh, I would advise others to avoid it if you don't like or are on the fence about if you like the chewiness of (average, restaurant) lamb, and spring for the chicken or steak souvlaki instead! But if you know you love lamb, I would still try it!! in other words it was tasty, but not my thing enough for me to get it again, and next time I will try a different entrƩe.
Service by the staff was great. Ambiance is fast casual. It is a very sunny and clean space, with lots of indoor and outdoor seating (red metal chairs). You order at the counter and they deliver items to your table and bus your table. There are to go boxes near the soft drink fountain, which you will probably need because one of the strong points of this establishment is the large portions,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI visited the Great Greek Mediterranean Cafe this past Tuesday and was very pleasantly surprised. The franchise is based out of Troy, Michigan. The brand new Ann Arbor area restaurant is very well played out and inviting for sure. The parking is free and quite plentiful. The food menu is fabulous and must be sampled to be believed. The Greek Gyro is of course the staple product on the menu and is absolutely fabulous. The Greek Salads are varied and extremely tasty and healthy. There are so many good choices on the menu including Feta Fries that are soooooo very good and appealing. There are a good selection of soup choices and mouth watering desserts. I will be coming back here whenever I am in the greater Ann Arbor area. The franchise is currently trying to expand throughout Michigan. And based on the new Ann Arbor location....I think they will be highly successful. You just can't go wrong here. Food service is quite fast and the employees are extremely helpful and friendly. Five Stars for sure!!! š
Any idea when the Free Tee Shirts will be available for individuals that travelled to the restaurant on that Tuesday during the Grand...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is definitely a taste of the Mediterranean in Ann Arbor!! My girlfriend and I each got a Great Greek Gyro š„, Avgolemono šš soup, and spilt some french fries! It was Fantastic š; I will start with the chicken lemon rice soup, it was so fresh and delicious. It tasted like it was made with chicken stock and fresh lemon juice. The chicken was tender and cut into small pieces, and the star of the show was the fresh dill they added, brought the whole soup together!!
The gyros had fresh tomatoes, perfectly sliced red onion, the meat was not too thickly sliced and had the perfect amount of char on the outside. But the best thing on this was the tzatziki sauce, O M G, sooo good!! The garlic amount was great, fresh dill/cucumber, and it was just the right consistency I like!! The fries were lightly breaded before they were fried and were just crispy and delicious!!
Prices were fair and they had both indoor/outdoor seating. The staff was really nice and we will definitely be back to start working through more of that amazing...
