Fantastic Sams Cut & Color — Local services in Pittsfield Charter Township

Worst cut and experience ever! I've never written a Google review in my life. See the total uneven mess in the picture. I've been to Fantastic Sams in Ohio with no problems in the past. I'm new to Ann Arbor so I expected a similar experience for a simple trim. I should have read the other recent bad reviews. I thought it was odd that the stylist, Lori, didn't introduce herself nor ask my name, and she seemed totally disengaged with me. I assumed she was a very focused professional. I told her I only wanted a trim of an inch or so and no short layers in the back. I now have short layers in the back. Worse than that, she took six inches off a portion of the sides in the middle of my head. When I asked her why she was cutting so much, she told me she was evening it and over-directing-- huh? When she was done, she asked me how I wanted the front sides cut. Who cuts hair this way? I only wanted a one inch trim off the length. When I called the owner for a refund she was completely awful and had the same explanation that there was noting wrong and Lori was "over-directing". The owner was there the whole time and told me she heard the whole conversation yet took no interest when I calmly said this was not a good experience. I called back for a refund and the owner was completely defensive and tried blaming me for cutting my own bangs which I have done for 35 years. The owner had no interest in apologizing or showing any concern. It will take three years to get the sides and back to grow right, so I made an appt elsewhere and will have to go from long hair to short hair in order to fix this. My summer of carefree wash & wear hair will now require daily styling...ugh! I'm livid about the incompetence and disregard for my request for a simple trim, and the owner defending the cut as being done correctly. The attitude was like I'm wrong and don't know a good hair cut from a bad one. The owner even had the gall to tell me not to come back. Unbelievably arrogant. Who runs a bussiness like this? The person that cut my hair was really friendly, but that was the only positive. I have thick, curly hair and came in for a wash and to get trimmed up and tame the dreaded triangle hair. A few moments after I came in, another customer came behind whom seemed to be a regular of theirs. My 'wash' consisted of my hair literally being slapped back and forth and my neck being sprayed, no shampoo even made it to my scalp. My 'haircut' was 4 or 5 uneven snips with shedding scissors (not sure what the actual name is, but it's the ones that you use to thin out bulky hair) and a straight line along the bottom. Layers left untouched, no checking to ensure sides were even. Everything took less than 20 minutes. I was barely to the front to pay before they were calling their other client back. I am left with a flat line around my hair, uneven chunks in the back, and the triangle shifted slightly upwards. Maybe this salon is great for regulars, but as a walk in, I am really disappointed. Do not go there if you are not white!! Got hair cut with Christina. She did good with my hair but she might be racist or at least racist with hair. She kept saying she doesn’t like to cut Asian’s hair when the minute I sat down. Because it’s so different. She also told me there are Asian salon in the down and I should go find them to cut my hair. When I asked her if I can bring my son there. She said: no, I don’t cut Asian’s hair. She also explained many times she also doesn’t cut African’s hair, not just Asian. Then she said she had many bad experiences with Asian or Asian’s hair. When I was trying to asked more. She said she doesn’t want to talk about it because I misunderstood.🙃 First had this experience in Ann Arbor and didn’t fight with her. And she still did good with my hair. So I still gave her tip which I can’t believe it! Don’t go there if you are not white.
