The death of my hair began with a simple mistake. I decided to go with a level 1 stylist at rising lotus salon. I assumed that as a stylist, she was fully trained and knew what she was doing, albeit new. I found out later that she was actually an apprentice, not a stylist. I went to her because I'm all about giving new people chances- how else will they build their client list? I probably would have still gone to her had I known she was an apprentice, IF SHE'D BEEN SUPERVISED. That was their mistake. They let a novice bleach my hair without any support from a more experienced stylist. I sat for 15 minutes under the heat lamp with the strongest bleach they had. Then, she left it on for another 20-25 minutes. Having dyed my hair myself a few decades ago, I was fairly certain she was leaving it on too long, but I trusted the expert. I thought she knew what she was doing. I mean, she was charging me $160 to do my hair (no cut, just color). I heard another stylist ask if she needed help when she walked by. My stylist said, "Nope, she's got it." The other stylist didn't miss a beat and just kept walking by. Their second mistake. Words can not describe what she did to my head, but I'm gonna try anyway. My hair looked like it did when I was 18 and bleached my hair myself with ridiculously strong toner to get a platinum blonde look and then let it grow out for two months. See attached Pic if you don't believe me. In fact, I correct myself. That was not a good description. My hair actually looked a lot better then. So I rated them a 1 and posted the same Pic. The next day, I called and asked for the manager. I was told she wasn't there, so I suggested she look at her Google reviews and call me back. She did - 3 hours later. At first, she was a bit icy, but she warmed up when I told her I'd take down the review if she fixed my hair. So she brought me in with her "best stylist." She did an okay job. She fixed the terrible color job (I asked for a balayage and got two month old roots) and put in a lot of conditioner treatment. This happened on February 13th. Today is April 6th. I have been using a deep conditioner on my hair 2-3xa week, a leave-in conditioner, a heat protectant before I blow dry, and then hair oil on the ends. See the attached picture. I am going to have to cut at least 5 inches off my hair. Hair that I've been growing out for 3 years. So, 2 stars. Here's my rationale: 1 star for original service of me paying them 160 to destroy my hair. +3 stars for the attempt to remedy the situation -1 star for the realization that their neglect and misleading classification of stylists is entirely on them - and they didn't own that at all. -1 star for not refunding me. Seriously! I PAID $160 for this nightmare?! I would also like to note that every person I've told this story to is amazed that I was willing to 1- give them another chance and 2- give them anything other than 1 star. Well, they made an effort, which counts for something. So 2 stars it is.

Searched for a salon in Plainfield or Naperville open on Mondays with online booking and found this gem. Checked out their social and decided to book online with Hannah. We clicked, she did my hair exactly how I wanted it, and the salon itself is so cute & you can tell the energy in there is good. People working there actually wanted to be there and you can tell the owner is on site, making sure everyone has what they need. I had a full highlight and cut first visit. I went back two days later for her to do my hair for an event. A few local friends have gone in or will be since I posted to my IG about my experience. It’s just a good fit for me and I love supporting stylist owned businesses. Make a change, even if just a shampoo/style to check it out.

I have been struggling to find someone who is able to work on my curly hair for FOREVER. I’ve had some rough haircuts in the past and for a while I let it grow because of the my past experiences with curly cuts. However, I decided to take a leap of faith and get a haircut with Ari, a curly hair specialist. This was a great decision!! Ari did an amazing job on my curly cut and she was very personable as well. She met all of my needs and more. If you are looking for a curly hair stylist seek no further! I got the Air cut, highly recommend!

So I have finally found my “home” salon! I have had so many butchered hair cuts and highlights done to my hair. But I was referred to Rising Lotus and decided to take the plunge. I saw Kat and when I tell you she cut my hair perfectly and EXACTLY the way I wanted it. I was so nervous bc I grew my hair out and waited a long time to get it cut how I wanted and again after MANY awful cuts, I was scared. I have NO FEAR any longer. All of the stylists are super wonderful and so talented. I have seen end results of other clients that have gone here and every single person has been happy. Gia the owner is so welcoming to everyone who walks into the salon. The front desk young ladies will make you smile on your worst day, they are sweet and so welcoming and friendly and the hospitality that they provide is unmatched! I also had the pleasure of meeting Brooklyn, she is a newer stylist and WOW that girl has TALENT! She is so sweet and kind. You would think I’ve been here 100 times but all of this is from 2 visits so far. They truly superseded any salon in the area and make you feel like you’re family and listen to every concern you have and ensure they will provide you with the end results you came in looking for. Thank you...

Brittany you are a talented and knowledgeable stylist. But to be the person you are makes you even more amazing. You are kind and compassionate. I have lost over 30% of my hair because of medication and had all but stopped wanting to go out without my hair in a clip or hidden under a hat. Brittany is the woman to see if you are thinning, having hair loss or going through this due to other reasons. She listened to me being emotional with compassion and kindness, heard me when I was telling her what I wanted and then explained how she was going to cut my hair to accomplish the best way to give me a style that would look fuller, still keep my length and what products I could use to help me to obtain it easily when at home. The result was is phenomenal. Ladies I know how traumatic it is when you start thinning, in her bio she states she specializes in this area....and she really does! I adore you Brittany. On check out the other young ladies were also so friendly and they have the best chocolate lol. I bought the new line "Blue" and everything has worked just as good at home as it did i the salon. I'll be back in 8 weeks. Thankyou again my love xxx Thank you...
