Came here once before and decent food. Came here again for lunch (10/5/24) and may not come back again. What a mess. Ordered the giant mozzerella stick for starters and not melted all the way through. We ordered the breaded steak sandwich with fries and both looked liked leftovers, refrigerated and fried a 2nd time. Seriously guys? The two thin dark fried steak slices were tossed on a bun straight from the bag with some shredded mozzerella cheese thrown in between that wasn't even melted. We also ordered the Clifton Classic burger. The sunny side up egg that came on it was raw.... Sunny side up doesn't describe it here. Guys, the egg cannot be served with translucent jelly egg white slime. Seriously, where was the real chef today? Disgusting. You have to cover the egg or do something to at least get a kiss of heat on the top of the egg. Raw egg white slime doesn't cut it and is going to get someone sick. The fries for both dishes were dark wrinkled leftover fries, again likely refried. More or less confirmed this when 20 minutes later another table was served fresh crispy golden looking fries with seasoning on it. oh well, I mean if that's the best you got than this place is not for me. Aside from this and a $75 lunch tab, the coke had ample ice in the glass, the classic Old Fashioned was really good, the decor was pleasant and the server was very nice.
For the people (or other restaurant owners) who say well did you let them know so they could fix it? Umm. ya see, we regular non bitchy people don't like to complain to much. We expect when the server walks up to the table and sees my scrapping dripping raw slime off my bun with a butter knife, she might have the curiosity to inquire. Or when I mention the mozzerella stick is not melted all the way through they would offer to take it back without me insisting on it. Just not me. Again, you do you. I'll just look for another place that doesnt serve raw eggs on a well done burger that i...
Read moreSo happy to have a new restaurant in the area! Service was excellent. The vibe inside is immaculate. Very clean and loved the decor. Food fell a little flat. I’m definitely willing to give this place another shot, but when two entrees and two cocktails came out to $100 after standard tip it’s hard to justify wanting to return soon.
I got the steak sandwich which off the bat might have been the issue. Next time I’ll try the pizza. Steak was chewy and needed a bit more flavor to the marinara sauce. Also the bread to steak portion wasn’t the best. Felt like it was way too much bread as you can see from my picture.
Wife got the chicken parm. Her portion was solid and she gave it a 3.5/5. Again she said flavor was lacking and felt like something she could have made at home. Take that for what you will, but when an entree is $20+ you want to feel glad you made the choice to dine out.
Cocktails were decent. Only thing I didn’t like was the sage which ashed into my drink. It’s nice presentation, but should be addressed for future. Server should remove that upon getting to the table if it hasn’t already put ash into the drink.
Again definitely willing to give it another shot, but maybe going to wait for the restaurant to mature a bit. Also hoping it becomes a bit more kid friendly. No kid menu online and server mentioned they only had pasta a macaroni for kids. Missing a big market of...
Read moreI’m always very excited when a new restaurant opens in Plainfield! When we moved here in 2000, it was a wasteland for foodies. Now there are several great options, and growing. So it gives me no pleasure to give a lower rating to what looked to be another great addition to our food scene. However, I was fairly disappointed on my first visit. We arrived and asked to be seated outside. The waitress seated us on the far edge of the patio where an adjacent building was blasting exhaust directly at us. We asked to move to a table that was in a shady spot, but a bit further away from the noxious, noisy exhaust, and the waitress gave us a bit of attitude. After sitting there for a few minutes, we couldn’t take the noise and fumes and had to move ourselves to the opposite/ sunny part of the patio. Frankly, I can’t believe that they set up a patio so close to a literal industrial exhaust fan without a wall to protect their patrons from it…and then sit patrons right next to it. When the waitress noticed we moved, she just said that the exhaust doesn’t vent ‘all the time’. It blasted for most of our lunch, or about 45 minutes while we were there. Aside from this pretty major issue, the food was decent and the cocktails were solid but the service was slooooow and not...
