I'm taking part in a wedding and I needed to get measured up so my friend could give it to her tailor to make some clothes. I called Saloni boutique to see if they offered this service. They told me to come by the next day. Sure, no problem.

I called the next day before leaving my place to verify that they could still do it. The lady received a quote from a man that also worked there (maybe the owner). She told me $20. I thought the rate was high but sure, no problem. I needed to get it done.

I show up at the store and I speak to the gentleman about what I needed done. The lady at the front desk told him that I was the guy that called earlier. He told me $20. I then showed him off my phone all that I needed measured - shalwar, kameez, and vest. He said "that's fine, please write it out on a piece of paper"

After I wrote everything out he flipped the rate and said "it's going to be $20 per measurement to total $60." Why didn't he tell me this before when I showed him my phone on what all I needed measured. Did he not look over what I was showing him. I abruptly left without saying anything and ended up going to Men's Warehouse where they did it for me at no cost.

I'm all for supporting Desi businesses but this is why I cant stand dealing with Desi people because of actions like this. You are running a business, care about your customers and your customers will care about you.

BEWARE, SHE IS A SCAMMER! I went to pick up a traditional Indian outfit that she tailored because I am standing up in my friend’s wedding. To preface that, during the fitting, she was extremely rude and argumentative with my fiend (who’s wedding it is), kept telling her it won’t look good, she can’t do it, then said she could… whatever. Not an ounce of professionalism or respect. Fast forward to my experience. I go to pick up my outfit from her. I remember having a conversation with my friend about the fact that she paid for everything already. This lady (the owner, Solani) calls 5 mins after I left to tell me that I owe $160 for her work. I explained to her that my friend paid for it, and she kept telling me that every girl must pay this fee. I got my husband, who speaks Hindi to speak with her and he told me she again said that every girl owes $160. I call my friend, who then calls her and asks why she is asking people for money after she has been paid, and conveniently she had forgotten that she got paid already. I should mention that I was not even the first person who picked their dress up, and she didn’t ask anyone else to pay her. I am so disheartened and disgusted because I showed nothing but kindness and respect to her because she is an elder and in the same breath, she tried to take advantage of my kindness and the fact that I am not Indian (assuming she perceived I was gullible and maybe even dumb).
