I've been a member for a little over 36yrs. When I was just a tiny tot, I couldn't wait to wake up on Sunday's to get ready for church! I was the oddball one out of my family, the rest of them wanted to sleep in, relax, play with their friends that didn't go to church but nope not me. I've seen this church grow. I hadn't gone for awhile cause of work schd & moving a ways, away. So after moving closer & my husband & I had our little miracle baby boy. I started attending again in the evening's with my son,who is also a member like my spouse & I. We had gotten married at Platte Woods United Methodist church & just like the both of us ,we also had gotten our Most Precious son, baptized at the church too!! I continued to go with my son in the evening church service & I believe the name of the Pastor was Jake. He welcomed my son & I along with the band & other's. They told me that they had a special room for children around my son's age. I felt very safe & secure enough to leave my son & go back to listening, learning & taking notes. Pastor Jake was telling & teaching us all about how Awesome it was helping people by ,planting seeds of:Faith, Courage, Happiness, Kindness ,Love ,Trust & so entirely much more about the Lord and the Beautiful Bible. Pastor Jake made a statement about planting a seed. That was if you don't maintenance your seed(making sure your watering the seed, that it has plenty of food, light, etc. ). Then how can you be sure that your seed or seeds are growing and are healthy/ok.. I would have not thought anything about that part. But this lesson has still stuck with me. I can't wait to eventually get back home & to church again. I had a big life changing event that happened in 2016 of March. I had a car wreck, that would change my life Forever. I had soo many Gorgeous Christians using the Power of Prayer just kepted on day after day. I had 72hr surgery with lots of specialist on my trauma team. I became still stable after all the different types of surgeries etc. Then on life support for a month or more I believe. I've got a spinal cord, head, neck & back injury. But Praise God & All those who prayed,I'm alive. But can't wait to get out of the Abusive/Neglecting nursing homes in Missouri, even ones close to the church & my son. I absolutely hate being away from my son & church. But I truly believe that sometimes ,the Lord places in certain places for a reason & things I've witnessed in 7 nursing homes you couldn't & wouldn't want to ever imagine at all. Getting back to my church,I highly recommend this church and in my opinion call & either set up an appt 1st or talk to the secretary & let her or someone else at the church help you in finding the best worship service that will be more enjoyable & comfortable for you. I'm talking about the kind of music of the service cause they've got a lot of fun & exciting ways for you to Praise God for Everything he's done in our lives & others, let the church lift you up,so you can FEEL THE HOLY SPIRIT INSIDE OF YOU!! Please give my church several chance's, let the church know your concerns cause others may feel the same way as you do & you could make a change for yourself & other's in the congregation. Remember you can't want change & not say anything, don't just assume, the church should know about certain issues if you don't talk about them. Thank You Platte Woods United...
Read moreChurch doesn’t actually care about its neighbors. I’m literally a neighbor. I live next door.
It’s Saturday morning. The church member who mows, is out mowing at 6:53am. I’ve had enough. I nicely confronted him and told him not to mow until 8am on a weekends. They start at 7am weekdays typically, fine. It’s a weekday, I’m basically up anyways.
Second, the church has a ton of property that they don’t maintain. A pond on the north side that feeds into other neighbors ponds. The neighbors can’t keep their ponds clean, because the church doesn’t keep its clean. Garbage runs downhill. They also have trees and overgrown areas of their property that are adjacent to our homes. They don’t maintain any of that. Poison ivy, poison oak, dead trees, dead bushes.
Third, they leave the parking lot lights on all throughout the night. Creating terrible light pollution at night, using unnecessary energy which costs us all money, and is an annoyance.
These are my valid complaints as a neighbor. I’ve lived here 3 years. I’m going to reach out to the church tomorrow. I’ll...
