After some discussion with my now-husband, we fell for the romantic idea of having a micro wedding. We decided to have it before the traditional wedding season started which gave me just under 2 months to get a dress!

I was searching for an affordable dress option. After unsuccessfully trying white dresses from department stores I discovered some second-hand wedding dress' websites. There was a dress that piqued my interest and I noticed it was a sample from J'aime Bridal in Pleasanton. After messaging them they invited me to come to try it on in person.

That dress wasn't the one, but Michaela was magnificent and helped me find the most stunning dress for my elopement. They had gorgeous sample dresses I was able to buy off the rack. We planned our entire micro wedding in secret so I didn't have the traditional bridal party audience. I was grateful to have her assistance and kind support since I was on my own. I was surprised to have selected a poofy gown, but it made me feel spectacular. I discovered I did not like lace on myself, which narrowed down the options a lot. Michaela read my mind and pulled the perfect option. I loved the modern satin top and the flowing horsehair tulle. The only thing missing was some bling, and Michaela found a belt with a lovely applique. She had the brilliant idea to remove it from the belt and attach it directly to the dress! She has a keen eye for design.

I was worried I wouldn't know which one would be "the one". Michaela pointed out that I said "I love it" to only one of the dresses and I knew she was right and I said yes to the dress! It was the perfect price too! I couldn't believe how much I saved. I came home to my now husband with the biggest smile.

To make things even more perfect the dress was comfortable during the wedding day! I give all the credit to Janis Stob, a spectacular seamstress. She was available the day I said yes to the dress and we made our first fitting happen that day! She was able to accommodate my tight timeline and fix some of the minor issues with the sample dress. She went above and beyond to get this dress to fit like it was made just for me. She was a magician and last minute added an invisible strap to carry while I circled the groom during the ceremony. I was able to move easily, spin during our waltz, and pick up my dog! I wanted to sleep in it I felt on cloud 9. Originally I was worried that the tulle would collect the bark on the aisle. It stayed dirt-free all day! I walked all over the venue grounds and it was practically pristine. The dress is a dream! If you want one to check out the Calla Blanche LA8223 TATUM. I had the most amazing experience with Brittaney at J’aime Bridal during the latest Martina Liana trunk show!

I was interested in a specific dress but the optimizer in me wanted to explore all kinds of potential adjustments – modifying the skirt, adding a basque waist, changing the lining color, making it backless etc – there’s simply no way I could have done it without Brittaney! I’d been to 4 other major bridal shops in the Bay Area and thought they were perfectly nice, but after visiting J’aime it’s clear they’re on totally different levels! For example, here’s how conversations would go at other shops vs at J’aime:

Me: “I’d like this A-line dress to have a fuller skirt.”

Every other bridal salon: “I think we can probably do that.”

Brittney: “Awesome! Here, try this underskirt on so you can see what it would actually look like and how it would feel. We can do it as a built-in layer, or a removable one to give you more freedom while dancing. If we do a removable underskirt, we have to take the side slit into consideration. Here’s how we could add hidden buttons to close the slit while you’re wearing the extra layer so it’s not an issue.”

She helped me actually understand what I was asking for and why, thought of all kinds of things I would have otherwise overlooked, masterfully explained how all the different variables would impact each other, and ultimately helped me perfect a design I’m wildly in love with!

Not only is she a master of design and customizations, she’s also a really lovely person who cares about her brides! After our appointment, I followed up to make a small tweak, and she immediately called me to better understand (and to make sure the change was really coming from me and for the right reasons!) It was a very thoughtful and kind gesture that showed she cared about more than just the dress!

J’aime is simply the best and all Bay Area brides should add it...

I found my dream dress at J’aime Bridal and my bridesmaids’ dresses. We had an amazing experience trying on dresses. I tried on my dress several times because I wanted my sisters, mom, and mother-in-law to see the dress before I said yes to the dress. They couldn’t come on the same day and they were so accommodating. They are very responsive to phone calls, texts, and emails. My veil was delayed in being shipped and I had already scheduled my HMU trial. They were so kind and let me borrow the store’s veil for my HMU trial. I also loved the continuity of working with Jaime the entire way. It was also awesome that if you purchase your wedding gown there, you get a discount on bridesmaid dresses. Jaime was so helpful in trying to find the perfect combination of shades of purple for my bridesmaid dresses. Two of my bridesmaids were not local and they helped them do measurements over the phone. Five out of six of my bridesmaids had a perfect fit to their dress. For some reason, my sister’s dress was way too big and was difficult to alter even though she got measured at J’aime. I think that was just a fluke though because all of the other dresses were sized appropriately. Their seamstress, Janis at December’s Child, was wonderful! She was fun and easy-to-work with. She was sweet and made my garter from the extra fabric from my dress that we took off when we hemmed the dress. She made the alterations process stress-free.
