I have been a member of Orangetheory for 3+ years - with 2 of those years being attributed to Orangetheory Pleasanton as my home studio. I've chosen to take the time to write a quick review of Orangetheory Pleasanton today because of the recent changes/losses that have taken place at the studio. I moved from Pleasanton out to Oakland at the end of last year and continue to make the nearly 30 minute drive out to Pleasanton multiple times a week to attend classes at this specific studio for two reasons: Coaches Sarah Soptic and Maria Garcia.
Frankly -- Kim, Inna and Melissa's (studio manager and front desk staff) recent departure had me rethinking my overall membership. The each of them were understanding, responsive and so kind. I planned to quit and cancel my membership because of their departure. I specifically want to call out this HUGE loss with the departure of Kim, Inna and Melissa. I continue to stay a member for ONLY two reasons: Coaches Sarah Soptic and Maria Garcia. Truly, I continue to make the drive out for classes in Pleasanton (and now Dublin) so I can be trained & instructed by Maria and Sarah. They are kind, thoughtful and encouraging. They make classes fun and it's clear that they aren't just reading the pre-prepared sheet of exercises while leading the class. Throughout my three years as a member of OTF, I have taken classes with many different coaches. Let me make this clear - Maria and Sarah are the reason I remain a member of OTF. I've tried other studios in the East Bay Area (Livermore, Montclair, Downtown Oakland) and none of the coaches compare to Sarah and Maria - and I don't feel supported or cared for like I used to feel with Inna, Kim and Melissa in Pleasanton. Coaches Maria and Sarah are truly some of the best coaches in the game. And I know I am not the only member that feels this way about these two. Orangetheory Regional & Corporate - I hope you see this review because these two women revenue drivers for you.... you sure don't want to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am a huge fan of Orange Theory, and this location specifically. The coaches are fantastic! They are approachable, super friendly and will offer thoughtful corrections if they see you struggling on the weight floor. The workouts are always slightly different so you wont get bored, and with the new Tread/Strength 50 classes you can mix it up depending on what you want to focus on.
Some things to consider about OTF in general: *If you are sensitive to loud sounds, bring your own ear plugs. They have some at the front desk, but I found having my own made a huge difference. *Their cancellation policies are not parent friendly. They encourage you to sign up in advance to save your spot, but if your kid wakes up at 2:00AM with a fever and you have an early class you are going to get charged a $15 late cancel fee because of the 8 hour window. (The staff here were great at occasionally waving this for me, but it would be great if there was some sort of earning policy for waivers). *They have a great strength building program, but if you make big strength gains, there may not be heavy enough weights to go around on leg days. The coaches will give modifications to make it more difficult without adding more weight, but the sweet spot is really for mid-level lifting. *They change up their class schedule timing seasonally with limited forewarning. This makes sense from a staffing standpoint, but if you have a strict work/home schedule these changes can make it harder to be able to get a workout in.
Overall, this is a wonderful gym and if you are consistent you WILL see big improvements. They do a great job of running multiple bench marks a month so you can see your improvements in real time and keep your self motivated. The transformation challenge at the end of January is also a great time to check in and see your body composition change (all that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs a loyal member of OTF (Orange Theory Fitness), I was excited to introduce my mom and niece to the exhilarating workout experience at OTF Pleasanton. However, our visit turned sour due to unfair charges and disappointing customer service.
Upon arrival, we were informed that as non-Pleasanton residents, we needed to sign up for a class that day to avoid a $30 charge. This requirement seemed arbitrary, especially considering I had previously taken advantage of a free class in Palo Alto without such restrictions. Nonetheless, I agreed to sign up under the condition that my class could be cancelled without any fees, as assured by the receptionist.
To my dismay, I later received a text notification informing me of a $10 charge for a late cancellation, despite the receptionist's promise to waive any fees associated with cancelling the class. Additionally, I discovered that I had lost one of my prepaid classes out of the eight I had purchased.
This experience left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. Not only did OTF Pleasanton fail to honor their promise to waive cancellation fees, but they also mishandled my class credits. As a paying member, I expect transparency, fairness, and integrity in my interactions with the gym.
It's disheartening to see such disregard for customer satisfaction and honesty. I hope that OTF Pleasanton will take steps to rectify these issues and uphold the high standards of service that members like myself expect and deserve. Until then, I cannot in good conscience recommend OTF...
