I am so disappointed. I can only speak about my experience with my stylist Alicia Shae. Things started out well, I liked my hair, she was however finicky on price. She told me $150 to foil my entire head, and cut layers. She only did half of my hair because she said it would take to long, which I agreed to, but then still charged me the full $150. Then she said when I came back in for the rest of the foils and the roots she would charge me $70. I went to schedule my appointment and asked how much it would be for JUST the roots because I didn’t think I needed the additional foil at the time, she said $125 😳. I explained she had quoted me $70 for foil and roots but now I just want the roots. She came down to $85 after some back and forth. I like the girl so I was not going to get upset over $15, whatever, that’s fine. Went in, all went well. Went another time got more foils and roots again. Whole time I am happy with how my hair looks and the condition it is in. Then comes time again (right before my company Christmas party) to get my roots done, I go in and she uses a 40 developer on my instead of the 30 she had been using. Then she rinses out the product. My hair is purple (toner), strawberry blonde on roots (from the bleach not taking) and bleach blonde every where else (like it is supposed to be). I didn’t make a big deal about the color because I was sure over time it would blend and I could use my toning shampoo to help it out, I am not super picky. Well the next day I feel my hair and on the crown it is FRIED, there is a specific area that is super course and broken off. It is a large chunk on the crown that had been ruined. The hair that used to be down to my lower back, is now in shards trying to reach my ears. I messaged her letting her know, and her response was that it happens, and there was nothing that she could do about it. The truth is yes, damage happens when bleaching your hair, but a chemical cut should not happen when you pay a professional $97.75 to do your roots. No, I did not expect for her to magically glue my hair back on to my head, but a sincere apology and maybe a refund would be nice. I understand, more than most, that THINGS HAPPEN, but not properly rinsing out bleach and using a higher developer to speed along a process is what happened. I usually wouldn’t say anything, but it is going to take me years to fix this and grow...
Read moreI really need to say this is one of the hidden gems of Atascosa County !! I took my 2 boys 6/15 for back to school haircuts and had the absolute best experience ever !! The staff is amazing, my 6 year old is Autistic and hair cuts are a very difficult event every time... until today !! The young lady that greeted us took me and my son to her station and I mentioned how haircut are difficult for us and why and she smiled and said no problem. She was so incredibly sweet and compassionate and patient with my son that he jumped write up in to her chair and I knew we were having a life changing event when she pit the "Cape" around my sons neck, because in 6 years he has never let that happen !! She took her time and warmly talked my son through the entire haircut and for the first time in our lives my son smiled during his haircut and for this single father that was absolutely one of the greatest gifts that could be given to me !! And my son has the best haircut ever ! When she was done he jumped down with a smile, my other son was just finishing up with his haircut which he loved and we paid and were out the door !! This is by far the longest review of any establishment I have ever done, but it is just so mind boggling rare that you come across the level of professionalism and down right caring that I found today that I wanted to make sure anyone and everyone that has any hair needs gives Shears a shot ... I guarantee you will not be sorry !! And to the owners and entire staff at Shears, from myself and my 2 boys, thank you for making a difference that we will never forget and that you have definitely gained a few customers for the rest of...
Read moreHonestly, if you're going to go here, don't just go with any hair stylist and wait to get your hair cut with Amanda. I've heard nothing but good things about her, and I wish I would have gone with her! I didnt wait and just went in on the weekend, and if I could give zero stars, I would. I went a couple of weeks ago, and it's the worst haircut of my life. I went in with waist length hair and came out with hair to my collarbones. I asked her to cut some length off and add some layers, and she completely butchered my hair. The hairstylist was sweet, I guess? She didn’t talk much which is fine. I’m just not sure if she was too shy to ask for what exactly I wanted but it definitely wasn’t what I had in mind. She turned me away from the mirror majority of the time she cut my hair for OBVIOUS reasons. Had a lot of hope and high expectations for this salon since it was recommended to me by a lot of people. Morale of the story wait to book directly with Amanda unless u wanna end up with a messed up haircut like me. She couldnt even style it afterwards. Literally could not make it look nice. Also, there was a random man hanging out in the salon?? Maybe he works there, idk, it was just me, the hair stylist, and the man. He was just on his phone lingering in the...
