It's a decently-sized mall for the relatively small town that is Port Charlotte. It's got a fair selection of stores, although there are quite a few locations that are empty.
Pros: It has all the basics you could want: JC Pennys, Macys, Sears, Bealls, Dillards, GameStop, several shoe stores, FYE, Victoria's Secret, kids clothing Food court has a decent selection: Charlie's, Sbarro, Auntie Anne's, Subway, Athens Greek Cuisine (local chain that has been there for at least 20 years, possibly 30) Regal Cinemas built right into the mall A playground area for little kids, as well as a Zoomarounds location (electric animal-themed scooters) There are 9 PokeStops in the mall, making it a great location for Pokemon Go players to stock up their items no matter what the weather outside is like
Cons: As others have mentioned, it's an older mall; I grew up with this place, so I personally like the designs due to nostalgia, but it is showing its age in a few places and could stand some updates Again, a decent portion of the stores are empty, and another one is closing as of this review; a small handful of locations close before the mall does, and the Zoomarounds location is only open on Weekends during the school year
More pros than cons, honestly; in a town with very little to do other than bars, flea markets, and golf courses, it's at least a place to browse for a bit, pick up something from the specialized stores, walk around in the AC, or...
Read morePretty cool mall. Tons of 80s retro vibes all throughout. Port Charlotte Town Center isn't what I would necessarily call a dead mall, but there are a lot of vacancies that could be and need to still be filled in. That being said, I did see a lot of foot traffic and people still visiting here and there were some unique and cool places that were still open. In total, there's still a number of places in here that keep this one entertaining. Cody's Roadhouse was good, there's a store that has everything dedicated to men, a Game Stop, a Hot Topic, a Spencer's, an Arcade, and quite possibly the coolest FYE I've ever been to.
I really hope the owners of this mall try to keep this one thriving and putting in new stuff for people to enjoy because I think there's still a lot of underlying potential for this place. Unfortunately, Port Charlotte and the surrounding area have suffered the unfortunate events of hurricanes and I'm pretty sure when I was here it looked like they were in the process of replacing some of the window panels from the ceiling.
With all said, it's about half dead and half still a popping place to be. Out of all the walls I've been to in Florida, this is one of the funnest experiences...
Read moreNot a lot of good stores. The ones that are there are expensive, $70 for a pair of jeans is the average. To me that is outrageous, might not be to someone else. The food court is pretty good, has a nice selection and I've only had a poorly made meal once or twice. There's plenty of places to sit in the food court as well. Not a whole lot of options for seating outside the food court though, normally all the benches are taken by older folks, and for someone who has a baby I need a place to sit so I can feed him or take a break since I'm still not used to walking heavy duty and I'd like to not share a bench with somebody. The stores are also all kind of cramped so if you have a buggy or in my case a stroller it's hard to get around without pulling clothing all off the racks. The Starbucks is tiny and can barely accommodate 3 people waiting for drinks/in line. I hate having people breath down my neck while I wait for my coffee. Although I do have to say, one time my car battery died while seeing a movie here because I left my lights on and I went into sears and one of the workers brought something out to jump my car for me. Was very grateful and ended up buying something while...
