I visited Portland Healing Space last week because I was having pain in my neck and right rotator cuff. It was confirmed to me by the receptionist who called me back that acupuncture sounded like the right course of action. So, I scheduled an acupuncture appointment. As a new patient, I expected to be asked several questions regarding my medical history. I was and answered them all as genuinely and honestly as I could. What I didn't expect was to be instructed to lay on the table for chiropractic adjustments to my entire body. Sure, I can understand the neck adjustment given that I went in for neck pain, but I didn't book this appointment for my back, hips or anything other than my neck. When it finally came time to do the acupuncture, it didn't really happen. He poked me twice in my leg and one sat for a long period of time in my hand. I was told that we'd do acupuncture to my neck later and that in 3-5 sessions I would be back to normal. I didn't sign up to be a chiropractic client who returns weekly - I signed up to have an acupuncture session with hopes that it would help alleviate my pain. I was provided with a bit of a massage in the neck area with the help of a handheld machine; it felt great, but again, not what I signed up to have done. At the end of my session, I was asked if I'd met my insurance Deductible yet. I told Dr. Kevin no, but asked that he still please send the appointment to insurance so that whatever I pay out of pocket will be applied toward my Deductible. He didn't charge my Insurance and instead I paid $150 straight to the company from an HSA account. Which will not be applied toward my Deductible.

With all of that being said, I am sure this is a great place (other reviews show for that) but I didn't have a great experience. I wish someone would have told me from the beginning that this wouldn't be treated as a one-time...

To say that this is a "healing space" is an understatement. This place is by far the best holistic care I've ever received and the care goes well beyond physical healing. I originally called to see a chiropractor, but ended up seeing Daniel for acupuncture instead. After one visit I was hooked and ended up coming for continued care and maintenance for several months. She is professional, kind, intuitive, gentle, comforting, and so, so easy to talk to. She took the time to get to know me on a deeper level every visit and even though I came in at first for chronic neck and back pain I ended up seeing her for so much more: jaw/dental pain, anxiety, stress, balance, PMS symptoms, digestive issues, etc. Each visit I am left feeling taken care of on a mental and spiritual level, as well as my body feeling relaxed as if I've been to a spa.

I eventually also saw Liz Giles for chiropractic care and she couldn't have been more knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. She has a gentle way of adjusting and is not only patient with all of my many questions, but she taught me exercises and tips for making postural changes in my daily life.

The desk staff is also part of what makes this place so great. They go out of their way to remember your name, personal anecdotes about you, and offer hot tea while you wait. They're excellent about recommending other services or answering questions about scheduling or insurance. I can't...

I saw Dr Gregg due to debilating pain I'd had for nearly 3 weeks and could not get any relief except through narcotics out of desperation. After my first acupuncture appointment in which he utilized a variety of interventions in addition to needles my pain went down 80-90% within a couple of hours and no more need for narcotics! It felt like a miracle!! He had me return the next day and although I felt sore I trusted him. Another intense treatment, although a bit less, I experienced even less pain and have remained essentially pain free since! I am so thankful and appreciative of his skillful and knowledgeable treatment. What's also impressive is after my 3rd treatment he suggested I not return for a week since I'm responding so well. He could have easily asked me to return earlier and with greater frequency and I would have, but his devotion is clearly to my well-being and certainly not a focus on his economics.
