The last time i saw the owner, I was treated rudely as usual. I paid for my books & turned to leave but turned around and asked if I had done something to piss her odd or if she just had a problem with me overall? Too my surprise, she had a list: it began with her telling me she was still unhappy with the negative feedback I had left: RE "Not a lot of back issues, but they're adding more all the time! OTOH they pretty consistently have new comic variants from week-to-week! The staff is friendly & knowledgeable on a variety of series; if you're looking for something new to read, they'll hook you up! The fan-boy in me shouts, 'GRRL Power!!' Rose City Comics is owned & operated by a young woman! The only thing preventing 5 stars is no discount for box customers. That said, they're getting something much more valuable to me than stars: my money!" I told her I hadn't left negative feedback, thinking of the scathing review I NOW planned to leave. At the same time, she's telling me that it was negative! She goes on to say that I don't clean my box out every week and that I've paid with coin/mixed payments of cash & card. I spent quite a bit of money in that place! Could it have been more, yeah. But the fact that I chose to spend my money there and that I was being griped at a HOW I spent it, was quite disheartening. And after initially leaving feedback that she didn't like & directed me to change it (to the previous) and she STILL considered it negative because I wouldn't leave perfect feedback! When this store was Bridge City Comics, it was good & I enjoyed going there. Rose City Comics SUCKS! I refuse to give another penny to someone so rude & petty! Despite the owner, the employees were always great, despite what she'd told them to do with my subscription box (she even took books out of my box - I assume to give to people she liked! Morgan's been there the longest and was always polite & fair. But I wouldn't soreness a penny in there and neither should you! Much better to go to a Good comic book store like one of the best Cosmic Monkey or Tasteecat Comics out for back issues, the best in the west, ...
Read moreA solid comic shop. Got introduced to a number of great lesser known books from Indy companies. Tons of local zines from local creators here in Portland and surrounding states. Lots to offer in graphic novel and tpb format from All Ages and children friendly books to titles that run from Teen to young adult, adult and mature books. Rose City Comics also comes complete with a highly knowledgeable staff. If you want to subscribe or special order books, they can do that too plus there’s a box/subscription program, while no, there’s no discount (never has been since it was Bridge City), it doesn’t matter because you’re supporting a locally owned, independent book store. That’s pretty special and something to be supported. I highly recommend them and I totally recommend checking through some of the titles you might not be familiar with - you might...
Read moreOne million stars. Hands-down one of the best local comic shops in the city, if not the country. Nicely curated wide selection of both new & older stuff- there's literally something for everybody here- newbies and dedicated fans alike. The owner Donna was kind and so helpful in finding me a few specific books I was looking for. But there's so much great browsing too! All kinds of neat stuff. There are long-boxes, but not so many that it's a chore to look through them all. Everything reasonably priced. They have boards & bags in every size you might need. Plus it's in a great location, surrounded by plenty of other cute shops. Highly recommended,...
