Xtabay Vintage Clothing Boutique — Local services in Portland

First of all, I love vintage shopping. Xtabay vintage was the first vintage shop I visited when I moved to Portland. I love the clothing there and the employees are always nice to me. This was until my last visit. Because of Covid, the store changed to only online shopping, but you can still get an appointment for in store shopping. When I arrived, the owner explained to me that Xtabay will not doing in store shopping anymore, and that she is the owner of “The English Dept”. However they still will share the store. I was sad to hear that Xtabay not doing in store shopping anymore, as I still love to try on the clothes before buying. I spent about an hour and tried some coats on. There was one coat I loved, but it had a broken pocket inside so I asked if they can drop the price. “The English Dept” owner called the owner from Xtabay and was told, if I as the customer, can fix it by myself they would be willing to drop the price. I didn’t want to repair the coat so I said I could pay the full price if they can fix it. Before I left, I added the owner “ The English Dept” instagram, and told her let me know when they fix the coat, I will stop by and grab it. After about one week. I saw Xtabay owner posted the picture that the coat sold! I liked Xtabay when they did not have many followers. They don’t care about individual customer anymore.

One of my absolute favorite vintage shops! Please explore with caution bc it’s a highly dangerous spot; you are likely to want everything featured! I am consistently floored by the gorgeous wares available daily.

If you buy online, read posts carefully for the time when coveted items will drop and have your trigger finger for payment at the ready bc items this gorgeous go fast… like in seconds. Why? Because there’s nothing worse than being haunted by gorgeous vintage that got away. Also, if you’ve bought from the shop, you know you can trust that items are accurately represented with full transparency, and they arrive clean and ready to wear. I’ve found that prices are very fair for the type and quality of items featured. I still feel ecstatic over each item I’ve received from this shop.

My only complaint is Xtabay’s location - on the other side of the country from me! Maybe I can convince my husband to move, but until then, I’m content in following her Instagram - the best thing on the web! I bought twice from this store, and I had two unpleasant experiences: the first time the coat presented a button not symmetrically disposed and this was not mentioned in the description nor captured in the pictures on the website. In this case the store accepted the return and refunded me, that's why I decided to repeat the experience and buy another item but this time the dress measures indicated on the site were not corresponding when actually measured at home and, in spite of the pictures that were testifying it, they said that they measured it right not recognizing any fault. Briefly, I recommend not to buy from them considering that they do not care at all about international customers: they publish items in timeslots impossible for international customers, they do not describe accurately their items and they will not refund you even if it's...
