Already don't like shopping in Portsmouth. This just confirmed it. If you want to know how it feels to be treated like a third, visit this location. I was purely disappointed in things here. I work a retail store half the size of this store with none of the staff and it's better than what's there. We went in with a mission: get tshirts for an event. We found what we were looking for quickly, but when we requested keys for the fitting room, the helping staff stayed in our section...like we were stealing. Mind you, just before we'd begun trying the clothes on a mother and daughter (of culture other than ours...) went into the rooms with clothes and came out wearing them. The staff didn't notice this but kept hovering us. We ignored it until the woman edged closer and closer. We called out what'd happened before we started and the woman disappeared. Now, the dressing rooms they keep locked? Disgusting and dirty. Don't take your shoes off people. I credit them for all inventory other than clothes. The staff woman near us was just organizing them and no one was rotating to keep inventory looking neat. Flash forwards to leaving the store. We'd calmed down and got through the detectors and one went off. We don't steal. Four lines of customers. I had a pleasant exchange with the cashier and was talking across the register to other customers. They neglected to remove the security device from a pair of pants one of my party members had. THEN proceeded to make a show of finding what set the device off. We will not be returning. They followed us through the store and closed by attempting to make an example of us. No. Nope. Nada. As much as I support the African American community, I cannot support an establishment which treats it's paying customers as thieves. It doesn't take much to maintain a sense of cleanliness in a store. It takes nothing to sweep, spray, and reorganize. You wall around hovering your clients? I see many things my bosses would not accept as incomplete here. Cleanliness as a base. Don't recommend this location and o hope y'all don't experience what we did, should you...
Read moreI stopped here on the wind for a bridal card.. I know the one in Hampton carries them as well as the one in Churchland does at least they have a stationary Department. While dipping and dodging the cluster of loud speaking loiterers clogging the entrance with their bags carts and over boisterous hand gestures... I was welcomed by a cashier yelling across the store for a price check.. from a Young Man without a name tag or so much as a vest indicating he was an employee. Who actually told her what to do with herself.. meanwhile what I assume from his behavior and statements his boss who was wearing a name tag and yelling at another co-worker about break time in the other direction yelled back at her that he would handle it. I roamed the store found no stationery Department picked up another product and decided to not have my trip be a total loss and stood in line behind three customers whom the cashier seem to know very well and decided to carry on an amazingly long and detailed conversation with not while ringing them up or taking their cash but standing there chatting. Being on my 30 minute lunch break this was a touch annoying. Can't say I will actually make that stop at lunch again but the values I find it roses on the things that really don't matter for brand won't keep me from coming back. However that cashier that employee the boss and the clientele of this location will stop me from entering again airline boulevard...
Read moreI went to the store to make an exchange on some curtain rods and in front of me an argument was happening between an employee and a customer. The employee was so rude the person in front of me (that she was not arguing with) got upset and left. The employee named Kanella had an assistant manager named Tonya beside her watching this rudeness. She even told her to leave the floor eventually but the employee refused and continued to argue. She then proceeded to yell at a child at which point I stepped in and said you should never yell a child. You’re an adult. Meanwhile Tonya is still just standing there witnessing this. ThE employee then began directing her anger at me. I am at the time almost 7 months pregnant and she is even becoming violent to the point where I throw the rods away outside and vow to never come back. I then called for the names of the employees to report to corporate and Tonya says she’s not worried as she has Rita or someone similar in the back of her pocket and I shouldn’t bother. I didn’t bother and instead I calmed down and I wrote this review so everyone else knows. This occurred a little while ago as I was so upset I just left it alone for awhile. Do not shop at this Roses. They condone yelling at children and threatening...
