Today I was FALSELY accused of stealing two $8 tank tops at Kohlâs in Poway. I purchased almost $100 of merchandise from there and as I was walking out of the store, I was stopped by loss prevention at the door. I was confused since I didnât steal anything. They brought me into their room and stated I took 2 tank tops. They stated 2-3 times that, âYou can make it easyâ and give back the merchandise. I stated I didnât take anything and they can search my purse and I took off my sweater. I was wearing fitted clothing so It was obvious that I wasnât hiding them on my person. They stated they cleaned the fitting room before they brought me into the loss prevention room and the tops werenât there. I never took the tops to the fitting room...I had looked at them and put them right back down and decided to try on a different tank top. They proceeded to call the police since I didnât have any merchandise to give them.
As we were waiting for the police I took pictures of the loss prevention employees and they threatened to call 911, although they had already called the police. Maybe they thought by calling 911, theyâd get emergency back up to stop me from taking pictures?
They also repeatedly told me to get off of my phone as I was texting and calling my husband and mother-in-law. Once the cops (2 cops in 2 cars) came they asked what happened and looked at the video they had. Nothing to see there! The police ran my license and there was nothing to find because I follow rules and laws.
The police asked if the female loss prevention officer could pat me down and I said, no. I did not want these people touching me. Shortly after, I was told by one of the police officers that I was free to go and they would escort me out of the store. I asked the loss prevention personnel for their names and they would not give me their names. I then waited for my mother-in-law to arrive and we went back in the store to speak to a manager and return all of the merchandise I had purchased.
The manager, Kristin, provided us with the loss prevention names, Bertha Bowman and Jae Scott, but did not offer an apology and acted as if everything was âpeachy.â I am beyond angry about being falsely accused, and to add insult to injury, this was on public display as I was escorted to the loss prevention room, and later escorted out of the store as if I did something wrong. The loss prevention individuals were quick to make false accusations and call the police but did not find it necessary to apologize when they realized theyâd made a mistake.
I am traumatized! I was crying and confused, and truthfully, not sure I can go to sleep tonight.
I will NEVER shop there again. I hope this never happens to anyone else.

I want to know what Kohlâs corporate intends to do about the behavior of their inexperienced loss prevention team at this store, as well as the poor customer treatment their manager exhibited while returning my items after the incident. Not only did she not say anything along the lines of, âI am sorry this happened, I will make sure this is addressed and will ensure you are contactedâ but she proceeded to have a weather, and personal conversation with another employee while she processed the returned items. They laughed and conversed as we waited to get my money back. I will keep everyone posted on how Kohlâs handles this very traumatic experience that they...
Read moreIâm very disappointed in Kohlâs and deceiving patrons with their advertising. Kohlâs had a 30% off Veteranâs Day Discount, which I qualified for, and tried utilizing yesterday as a military family. However, when checking out I was told only the 30% discount applied to my home decor item and not the toys I had in my cart. I think this is very deceiving to military/veteran patrons. Target had a 25% off coupon for toys until November 16th, which I passed on for Kohls. Furthermore, when Target says I get 10% off two order purchases, I got 10% off my ENTIRE ORDER. Since I didnât get the discount I was expecting to get at Kohls (their details said nothing about excluding toys), I will probably return many of the items I purchased from Kohlâs yesterday. I now know that Kohlâs coupons and discounts are not really what they seem, and the time and effort to shop in store may not be worth it when less restrictions (and clearly reflected exclusions) are imposed at other retailers for their coupons and discounts. Kohls should stand behind their advertised discounts like other retailers, because then maybe Kohlâs would retain more customers instead of...
Read moreI'm only giving this one star because there is no -* on here. It sucked in every way possible.
Went to get a wedding gift for my niece in Kansas. The customer service lady didn't know how to get the gift registry off the computer. We got it to print. The customer service lady couldn't even open the registry to get the couple's mailing address.
They told us to use the registry kiosk. There were two women on it. We waited for 10 mins before the customer service lady said " there is another kiosk on the other side of the store." Ok.
We went to the other kiosk, put our information in ( one letter at a time) and tried to order something off the list. The kiosk is slow and very frustrating to use. As we were going to FINALLY pay for the item and send it.....the kiosk shut down. I tore the registry list in half and threw it in the trash. Fu(k it. I will send them a check.
This only reminds me of why I haven't shopped at Khols in years. I will never be back.
Attempted to use the internet site from home and had the...
