Today was my first time going to Oak Grove Market. A lot of people say how great the food is etc…. But unfortunately my experience was not a good one. I ordered a 5 pc bbq wings and bought other things as well. I got my ticket, gave them my name, checked out and sat in the dining area. I waited PATIENTLY for a little bit, then walked up to the window. I didn’t ask because I thought they were busy. Not one of the five people at the food prep area looked at me. I thought there were a lot of orders before me so I sat PATIENTLY back down. I walked up after another little bit and asked about my food. The cashier looked and my food had been sitting there. He tells me they called my name. I didn’t hear them calling my name nor did my friends. So he proceeded to tell me that I should have asked the first time and basically it is my fault that I didn’t have my food. He said I had an attitude with him. OF COURSE I HAD AN ATTITUDE!! MY HARD EARNED MONEY WAS SPENT!!!! They knew I was waiting and saw me. They didn’t make ANY EFFORT to see that I had my order. WHICH I HAD ALREADY PAID FOR!!! I’m disappointed to say the least. There needs to be customer service training. I told the guy who said it was my fault that I didn’t have my food that the correct thing would be to walk the food over to me since they knew I was there. He didn’t seem to care. I would be happy to show them how real customer...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place. Everything is clean and a nice variety of foods. My post is based on the one (and possibly only) purchase of food there. I saw their sign for "New Orleans Style" roast beef poor boys. Sounds great so I ordered two. The girl taking orders said we only have enough meat for one and will have to warm up more. Red flag but my wife and I were hungry so ok go ahead. 10 mins and $28 later i got my order. Cold chewy (French?) bread. The small amount of meat that was on the bread was "cold cut" quality and not slow cooked New Orleans style. If I want a cold cut sandwich I go to Subway or Jimmy John's. Disappointed is an understatement. We threw away half a sandwich.
Ammendment: After hearing from Oakgrove management I was refunded for the unsatisfactory sandwiches and I accepted that this might be a one time issue. I purchased a couple of their pre-made house salads and they were fresh and tasty. I added two stars for the service, cleanliness and...
Read moreThe store is pretty huge, with an amazing selection of products. From your standard convenience fare to quick bites and full-on hot food such as wings, poboys, pizzas, and salads, you should be able to find it here.
The only reason I dinged one star was because the Cuban sandwiches we got tasted like they were made with pulled pork instead of proper pork roast. Now, the sandwiches were FILLED with meat, but the pork seemed to have a bit of sweetness ("A pulled-pork taste" as my wife put it) and it really took away any authenticity of the sandwich.
Bear in mind, I'm a Cuban sandwich "purist" and you might not mind a minor variation on it. I certainly can't fault the quality of the sandwich's ingredients and they're generous with the meat. Now, I just have to...
