Super Mercado Torres — Local services in Proviso Township

I put a five star because i do love this grocery store. Their produce is always fresh and their arrachera is made perfectly, plus my family has been going to this grocery store for a long time. This is actually not a review of my own just something that happened while i was there and I decided to write a review because if we do stay quiet, we become part of the problem. There was a man of color waiting to order at the meat section when an employee out of nowhere asked him "why are you here"? I thought the man had previously been kicked out for another reason, but that was not the case. Obviously, this was a racial issue. The customer was probably coming out of work because his clothes were dirty and probably the employee thought he was a homeless person. Either way, the customer was starting no problems. That is not the way to treat a human being. I hope you address the issue. I personally apologized to the customer as we walked out because i felt so bad and i wanted him to know, not all Mexicans...

THIS STORE IS only serves Mexicans so if u is African American do not go here they will follow u all thru the store as if u are trying to steal something. I never felt so uncomfortable in my life they are rude to African Americans and acts as if they don’t speak English when they do this is America and if they can’t speak English then u need to go back to where u came from I will never shop at this racist store again. Also I used to come shop there for one item and apparently they stoppped selling it so I won’t come back in the store I spent good money at this store since I just moved over here and I never will ever spend my money here again then the cashier tried to get my card locked on purpose saying I had no money when the other cashier stepped in the card went thru automatically she tried to get my bank card locked one agin if u are AFRICAN AMERICAN DO NOT GO THERE SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSE WHERE MY AND MY FAMILY WILL SHOPP AT THE OTHER STORE DOWN THE STREET...

This place makes you place your outside purchases like purchased tamales(from next door) in there nasty customer service counter where it’s always unattended and filthy like store.

Buyer be ware - this supermarket sells expired goods at regular prices. If lucky to find something not expired items are extremely expensive (price gouging ).

Supermarket should know your surroundings/customers .. I just go to wholefoods and Mariano’s for the same priced items.

Next time I find expired goods I’ll make sure to notify the health department, yea and thanks !
