I came in to the store to pick up my order as I was standing there waiting I'm watching the 2 older ladies working behind the counter. . 1 older women grabbing diced pork in 1 pound baskets was using her bare hands . #1 that is right out disgusting and un sanitary . Do you people know how much bacteria grows underneath your finger nails . Gross . On top of that she had slightly long nails . The other older women skinny they both wore glasses she touched her face to move her hair using gloves . You what ½ the people don't understand. Is You fail to realize what you are doing because you have done this for a long time. Yet the people getting sick don't see why they got sick . It's because of people like this using there bare hands and not using gloves or hair nets while messing with food . This women basically contaminated the entire tub of diced pork . By using her bare hands this was on 9/22/2023 at approximately 3:30 p.m. I just hope my meat wasn't touched with bare hands . Being that I'm from out of state can't really do anything I tried talking to the manager but was left on hold for 10 mins so I hung...

I am ashamed to say I lived on the east side for 2 years before I finally wandered into this place. Let me say first, to all who have commented on the smell I am a professional handler of meat and I have smelled nothing in this joint that didn't just make me feel like I was in a real butchery where the all the processing is done just a few feet away from where the meat is to be displayed. I love the neighborhood feel, I love the prices and I love that they have my beloved Okra pickles I've been looking for those since I left Florida tried many other brands and they're all gross and slimy. Bravo Double J for having the ones that aren't gross and slimy I almost cried when I saw those jars on the shelf. Literally ALL of my meat and much of my groceries will be coming from here from now on. Stay local, y'all you are exactly what the world is running out...

I'm a big fan of this place! It's the only place I can find raw Turkey legs for my dogs. They also worked with me on the price of them and were super helpful! The employees are always friendly and are happy to help with whatever need you have. They also have fish in the back if you ask for it. I'm not sure why it isnt kept out front. You can also get jellies salad, cheese and deli items. They have drinks and a lot of no perishables as well. Excellent service! Also, if you go on a nice day there is a nice man who plays guitar outside! Worth it to say Hi to him and hear him play;)...
