For almost 50 years, the Arts Center in Downtown Pueblo has served as the leading platform for the visual and performing arts of Southern Colorado. This 'community center' offers numerous galleries, classrooms, studios and the award winning Children's Museum.
ABOUT PUEBLO & THE ARTS Pueblo is home to Colorado’s award winning Creative Corridor District where creative industries flourish and you can witness firsthand the power and influence of the arts in the community. Long before the establishment of the Creative District program in Colorado, Pueblo has been at the forefront of engaging the community with the arts. For over 40 years, the inspirational and multi-faceted Sangre de Cristo Arts & Conference Center (1972) in downtown has been a driving force in ensuring that the arts are a part of everyone’s lives in Pueblo and Southern Colorado. The Art Center is complemented by the Pueblo Levee Mural, which is a more non-traditional venue for artistic expression. In 1978 a group of art students converged on the levee waterway which runs through downtown Pueblo and overnight created an art project that has captured the imagination of Pueblo, the art world and even Guinness Book of World Records. The projects cover more than a mile and is recognized as the world’s longest mural. To date more than a 1,000 artists have participated in its development and one can enjoy the art project by walking/bike trail or from the water by kayak. The Pueblo Levee is currently undergoing a major reconstruction to ensure the integrity of the structure for future generations and when completed, the community will have a new canvas to share...
Read moreI would not recommend anyone rent this venue for any even. My niece quinceañera was shut down at 10:30 last night after the manager told my sister in law at 8pm that the hall was over capacity which we understand that being a problem. We asked people to leave and even after about half of the guests left she still shut the party down at 10:30. This event wasn’t a 2,000 party, this was an event that took months to organize and cost more than 20,000. She was super unprofessional and rude, she even went as far as pushing and shoving guests. We had hired a show that came all the way from El Paso, Texas she shoved the owner to the show and was refusing to let them come in. Worst experience ever. I pray nobody ever has to go through this. My thoughts are the host has enough to worry about that night the security should have had better control of capacity, and come to the host and said I can’t let more people in until some people leave. But no they let people in and then said it’s over capacity we need to shut the part down. So what’s the point in having security in the first place then? So very sad and disappointed. Please...
Read moreMyself and a friend of mine went to the Sangre de Christo Museum today in Pueblo, just off exit 98b to look at the DaVinci exhibit. The Second floor had the copies of the painting, they were outstanding, the colors many of them were still rich and bright in the details even the unfinished painting was awesome. We went to the third floor to look at all of his inventions and codexes. The details and the imagination that he had to have in order to solve problems Through Math, nature, science was amazing. A few of them he had just improved from what the Greeks and Egyptians had already done. Yet his other inventions were just amazing thought of design, math, science and Imagination of an unfettered, intelligent, creative mind. To me if you love art, science, and math it will be a mistake if you miss this exhibit which closes approximately the 29th of this month. I highly recommend it. Also there's a small exhibit to the left of the main desk as you go into the front door of the DaVinci exhibit another few artists are in there and they're very thought-provoking and well...
