We are living in the middle of COVID-19 and I am very vulnerable so logically, I can't go to my gym. But I have to get exercise for health reasons so my husband and I decided that if I can't go to the treadmills there, we were going to try to bring one to me. When you are shopping for a treadmill, you can read reviews online and check Consumer Reports and even watch "guided tour" videos on YouTube. There just aren't really very many places where you can go and check one out in person for yourself. And with a purchase that is that expensive, I really feel most comfortable doing exactly that. I did my homework and found two brands/ models that I felt most comfortable with. And then, I called a gentleman who owns a treadmill repair business locally. I explained my situation and while he is not currently servicing treadmills for home use because of COVID, he was willing to spend quite a bit of time talking to me. He immediately talked me out of the two I had chosen and suggested another brand. After getting off the phone, my husband and I watched a "video tour" and we were sort of underwhelmed... This brand does not have bells and whistles but it is a workhorse. The best thing about chatting with the repair man was that he directed me to a business who sells them about 40 minutes from our home. So now I was going to get to see them in person! I immediately loved the salesman/ owner -- Magic Kayhan. He was patient, kind and I felt zero pressure to buy anything. There was no up-sale to a fancier product and he was very forthcoming after assessing our household need that we didn't need anything "more". We had the option to look at where his workers are cleaning and reconditioning some models (think a maid-service) while other models are being completely refurbished (you basically get a "like new" model that comes with a 1-year warranty from him). He said he likes his customers but only wants to see them again if they want new or more equipment. He never wants to sell things that are going to break. Ultimately we ended up with a LifeFitness 93T that his crew "re-manufactured". We set delivery for a few days away and had a space ready for arrival. The two-man crew took about 30 minutes to disassemble the treadmill to get it down into my basement and reassemble it. They tested it before they left. They were pleasant, polite and very efficient. They wore masks the entire time -- very considerate. I am so grateful that the repair guy referred us down to Total Fitness Outlet. I am so happy that I ended up with Magic who treated us so fairly and was so honest. If I had to recommend anyone/ place to a friend trying to go through this process (which was not easy and took us a few weeks) I would absolutely send them here. P.S. They don't just sell treadmills. They have almost anything you...
Read moreDo not do business here. This business sold me a Waterower machine, natural color, for $1,499 plus tax ($89). They said it was commercial grade and worth $3,000. I looked it up online and the same model, new, costs $1,199. I then called the manufacturer and they looked up the serial number. The unit I purchased was built in 2017. I called the store and asked what they would do to remedy the situation. Because they had already paid commissions to the sales rep (I bought this 2 days ago), they were willing to take it back for a full in-store credit or give me back $300. I don't want a credit because I don't trust the store, and the $300 refund makes it equivalent to the price of a new unit, yet it's six years old and has a one warranty from the store. The manufacturer said they are not an authorized reseller so I'm not sure how they would initiate a warranty repair. I called back the next day to facilitate then refund and asked if perhaps I could just pay them the amount they paid the sales rep in commission and then get a full refund. The owner got very upset with my line of questioning and eventually hung up. No refund. I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau. This is a dishonest company that is more worried more about having to take back commission from their sales rep than they are making the customer happy. Do not do...
Read moreThis is not a glitzy place: it is basically a warehouse with lots of higher-end equipment -- new & used -- packed edge-to-edge. A major part of their business is apparently commercial leases to hotels, fitness clubs, etc. Consequently they maintain them too, a not-small-consideration for upper-end, electronics-stuffed, aerobic machines. They do a good job of install and setup.
For a consumer, there are two major benefits compared to big-box, gltizy, sport stores: 1) a staff with real understanding of the gear and your choices; and 2) availability of well maintained, higher-end gear coming off lease at very steep discounts. Compared to commercial use, your home gym will never wear this stuff out, so these represent solid long-term value. Well, maybe the silly electronics may fail . . .
Even discounted his commercial gear is still more expensive than consumer options, but it lasts forever, and the quality is apparent with every rep. Five years is maybe the outside margin for a $1200 home gym from, well, you know the ones . . . I am a 25 year osteoarthritis patient and need to use this gear, so know what i am talking about . . .
Go see Magik (the apparent owner) and see what he can do for you if you are...
