I work nights, and on a day off I got an itch to make bacon and eggs. I called to confirm they did close at midnight, then drove down from Harpers Ferry because everything there closes earlier. I arrived to find all the doors locked at 1153 (last second I know), and tried calling again. I could hear the automated announcement that there was a call, only to be hung up on. I walked back and forth, trying to figure out what to, and talked with a guy heading in for night stocking. He confirmed that it was not unusual for the doors to be locked before midnight, and he would have to get someone to let him in for work. At 1204 a couple was let out with their groceries, so the store hadn’t closed completely, just prematurely locked up. Another night stock person came in, and relayed my story to the staff inside, who relented to let me come in and grab the eggs and bacon I had traveled so far for. As I finished up with the self checkout, an employee scanned a close out card on his badge, taking the unit offline, and then walked out with me. His shirt said “Giant Count on US, Count on ME.” I had counted on them, and if not for the help of a couple of stock people sympathetic to the hassle of working back shift, I would have made the...
Read moreI have shopped primarily ar Giant since moving to Purcellville over 13 years ago. But just had an interesting experience. I watched as the lady in front of me was helping the young man checking her out by bagging some of her own groceries. When he finished ringing her up he stood there and watched as she completed bagging the rest. She commented “I thought I was just helping out.” But he never made a move to assist, while I waited for my turn. He did the same with my groceries—he stopped scanning and stood there until I had things into my cart giving him room to slide scanned items along. So is this the new protocol for manned Giant check out lines? I go to the manned lines because I’m elderly with a number of health issues. Sometimes it’s hard for me to simply do the shopping. And even without those problems, having an employee stand and pick his nails while a customer is bagging their groceries without help will be enough to make me switch...
Read moreAll the workers in this Giant have that type of entitlement tone that makes EVERY trip here a dreadful task. I love the town of Purcellville, but this grocery store seems like it belongs in WV, not Loudoun County. Not only do I pay an arm and a leg for 2 days worth of groceries, this store stinks of bad attitude, old ladies that hate their lives and more old ladies that wish they could just retire already; complaining about their jobs in front of customers, making people feel bad for simple misunderstandings about per pound sales on the fruit and just flat out making their customers feel bad for asking questions or existing. Went in a few weeks ago for a red bull and a bag of chips, and the lady had to ring these items up four times, delete items that were not there, charged me for multiple Red Bulls then had to process a return.. Nothing but bad vibes and unhappy workers at this...
