I ordered for takeout at 7:50pm, and when I tried the food, the tamales didn't taste fresh (almost like they had been frozen and then reheated in a microwave before being given to me) and had a weird color and texture on the bottom of them. We also got a second dinner combo, but 10 mins after receiving the food, the ground beef (which tasted wet, not greasy) and had soaked through the chalupa leaving it in a soggy falling apart mess. The side rice was also soggy and the chips tasted stale. I was very confused and spoke to the manager. He told me that they make the ground beef in the morning and let it sit on a steam tray "like chipotle" but Chipotle makes multiple batches throughout the day instead of serving meat that has been sitting there for at least 9 hours. The story with the tamales was the same that they make 4-5 in the morning and keep those in the steam tray, and I assume that is the case with the rice as well. The manager offered for me to bring the food back so they could look at it and see if anything was wrong, but what was wrong is I was served food that I was directly told had been made that morning and it was insisted that it was fresh. I don't usually make complaints but I feel like they are bordering on the food becoming unsafe leaving it on a steam tray that long, all the while saying everything was made fresh. I was disappointed because it definetly wasn't worth $33 plus tip and it doesn't seem like an honest...
Read moreI feel like it would be more like 3.5 stars but since that it’s not an option, I rounded up.
Overall this is a pretty good Mexican Restaurant in Purcellville. We have been here a few times and always have a decent experience. The service is hey ally pretty good and the food always comes out fast. The chips and salsa are good. Which is a plus because some restaurants have salsa that is hit or miss. And the quest with chorizo is awesome! I enjoy a cup of it all to myself because some other family members aren’t big fans of cheese… fine by me!
At the most recent visit I got the chicken and rice… a version of which is a favorite of mine at any Mexican restaurant. Honestly, this one was not my favorite. The cheese they put on it was almost more of a sauce and the dish ended up feeling like a pasta dish. The chicken was also over cooked and tough.
My husband got the Tacos Al Carbon and he really enjoyed them. And their rice is really good!
They also have a pretty good kids menu selection which we like. But honestly, their beef tacos are just okay. Whatever they cook the beef in made the crunchy taco soggy after awhile.
It’s a good place to go if you don’t want to drive too far and have a craving for Mexican Food. But don’t go expecting it to knock...
Read moreI have tried the restaurant twice and had a co-worker try it once and we have not been impressed. Working in the Lorton/Springfield area, I look for central locations for luncheons and happy hours, I tried the happy hour last week, and was not impressed with service my co-worker tried the restaurant the next day and had service issues also. Yesterday I took about 12 people there at 2:30 PM to try it our for a luncheon and again was not impressed with service, in fact it was bad. Even after I one of my team members call twice, show up early and picked a time off peak hours. The server was pleasant but could not handle separate checks, and no other staff helped (but they did watch), orders were slow coming out and drink re-fresh was very very slow. I think we'll stay with FireSide Grill across the street and maybe try again in a couple months. During my two visits I did discuss my concerns...
