Do not believe what is advertised at Witty's in Rahway. I had high praises for this store in the past and recommended Witty's to friends and colleagues. Was told when there in the past, by an associate, if it was not on the shelf, just ask, because we probably have it downstairs for both spirits and wine. June 30, 2025, Witty's advertised on THEIR website Blanton's Gold Edition Bourbon, at a sale price of 199.99. Usually, this hard to find Bourbon will not be on the shelf, so after driving out of my way to get there, I asked for help. The associate gets the manager and I was shown the bottle I wanted to buy in the locked cabinet, and it's the Blanton's Gold Bourbon they advertised. They want $345.00 for the bottle. I had a picture of the bottle from the website, with the price of $199.99. A manager was called and I showed him their website advertised price and fed me a line about private label vs allocated bottles. This means nothing because their website does not state its only the "private label" bottle, if that even exists with Blanton's Gold at $199.00. Their site just states Blanton's Gold Edition Bourbon on sale at $199.99. The manager had the option of making it right, honoring their advertised price, and fixing their site afterwards to make this customer happy. Instead, I was told simply, sorry I cant sell you that for $199.99. How does a company get away with that? False advertising to get foot traffic in the store is how that feels to me. It's wrong, they should have honored the price as advertised, and all buyers should beware of this stores marketing practices. There are plenty of other liquor stores to do business with. I just went back and checked the website and now the prior price and the picture of the bottle at 199.99 has been removed from their website and updated to $349.99. I have dated pictures of both. Pretty sure that it's generally not legal for a business to advertise a price and then refuse to honor it. It's called deceptive advertising. Follow up : After a complaint to the Better Business Bureau, I received an apology from Witty's and an offer to go and purchase the bottle at their advertised price of $199.99. I accepted the apology and purchased...
Read moreGreat variety, and the cashiers were decent and quick, but I am giving two stars for the profiling their door man did while I walked around looking at inventory. I was followed around the store and even after I answered his question of what I was looking for he continued. It's one thing if I asked for help, but I did not. I am an African American man and unfortunately this is not my first experience of racial profiling. What made It more apparent was when my Latina wife came in to join me this door man smirked and stop following me. I suggest that for the safety of your employees and customers please do not engage in any type of profiling/one on one survalience unless it's truly warrented. We still finalized a substantial purchase, but will not support this store again, being that in 2018 they are engaging in this type...
Read moreNever in my life have I met more disrespectful and ignorant people who simply ignored the fact that they sold me an expensive bottle which had both alcohol and the seal missing. The travesty of the situation is this only happens to a bottle which has a case on it otherwise it would be hard to miss. When asked for refund, the manager simply said their store policy doesn't allow them to do anything but then contradicting himself by saying if it was a cheaper bottle he could have done something. A complete...
