When shopping at this boutique please BEWARE. Ask all the medical questions and read all the paperwork while youâre there because they are not gonna disclose any information they deem unnecessary. We got Rosie from them 2 Saturdays ago and when we brought her home she was coughing and lethargic. We sent them a video to show the cough and voiced our concern because we were going to take her to the hospital. We were told not to because they said it was a minor cold a that didnât warrant a trip to the hospital. We brought her back to the store which is an hour away from where we live the next day to be treated for kennel cough because we have another dog and she couldnât be around him. They said they were taking her to their vet on 1/6 that Monday. Throughout the week we had to keep following up on her and they said she wasnât coughing but they started her on the antibiotics on 1/6 based on the video we sent. Another worker said she was coughing infrequently and can go home on Friday. We picked her up Saturday 1/11 and when we got her home she was coughing which we understood could be residual so that wasnât an issue. But when we looked at the scripts they sent her home with we noticed they were dated 12/31 which was 5 days before we even went to see her. So she had the cough, was prescribed medicine, we were never told any of this and when she went home the first time with us, they never gave us the meds. When I brought it up they said the 12/31 date the vet put on scripts as the filled date was back dated to her initial exam date. Iâm sorry but no vet, doctor or vet pharmacy would put a date on a script that wasnât the date they actually prescribed and filled the medicine. We also received an updated health summary via text message that we read through and thatâs when we learned she had a small hernia which was not disclosed and when I asked about it we were told itâs no big deal and when you get her her spayed any additional cost to get it fixed theyâll cover it (Iâm 1000% sure being reimbursed 8 months later would not be easy). I did mention how disappointed I was in everything did say that if we keep her I would like some of our money back (because she want cheap) and they must not have wanted to do that because they did not respond. We shouldâve been informed of everything prior so we could make the decision on whether we wanted to take her. At the end they offered a full refund due to the hernia not being disclosed and while they responded to text messages I would say I am not happy about their customer service and the way this whole situation was handled. I met Cindy the first Sunday we dropped the puppy off and the only reason we learned her name and that she was the owner was because we asked. Even the day we dropped the puppy off no one said anything and she literally got up took the dog and walked to the back of the store as if we did something wrong. They only seem to care about the $$$ and are not for the well being of the pets.
We purchased a little Yorkie puppy for my 11 year old daughter as an early Christmas present in November at Furrylicious, extremely expensive. She was going in there playing with the puppies for months and finally got the better of me with a really cute and tiny Yorkie. The dog was great for the first few months but later started limping and then not using his rear leg. We got him checked out at our vet, x-rayed, and it was determined he had developed a congenital hip disease where the bones do not get blood and die. It's a living thing so it's understandable these types of things can happen. I requested a quote from our vet, whom I trust wholeheartedly, and was floored the treatment was going to be 3400.00 and months of physical therapy. Having had the dog for a number of months in the family we obviously became very attached and decided to save the dog's life. I called the store and a very pleasant young woman answered and I requested to speak with the owner. She responded the owner is rarely in during the day and suggested I email Cindy, the owner. I immediately sent in detail exactly what happened and a day or two later this was her (pasted) response: "I am on vacation until the 28th. We will need our vets to look at the puppy. I will have my manager arrange this. Please provide your phone number. " Needless to say I was floored by the complete lack of compassion and heartless response. There were a couple more similar responses along the same lines: "I never got your email. I see your number now. I'll check on this tomorrow." ; "Jeffrey, I actually reviewed your file and we adhere to the NJ Consumer Affairs requirements as stated in your signed contract. Your puppy is currently outside of this warranty. We would be happy to have either of our staff veterinarians, at no cost to you, examine the puppy for a second opinion. Please let me know if you would like us to set this up. Cindy Knowles Furrylicious" "I indicated I did not want to see the puppy in distress and offered a second opinion by our Vets. We abide by the NJ Consumer affairs legislation as required and currently are past any responsibility on Veterinary bills. This is why it's part of our contract. We have seen problems where one Veterinarian wants to rush to an expensive surgery while others have alternative views and treatments. This is why I offered to have ours do an exam. Please let me know if you would like us to accommodate this and we will set it up. Cindy Knowles" My firsthand personal opinion of furrylicious is the owner could care less she's selling living things. For all she cares it might as well be selling pencils. Why didn't I go to her vets?...One is her business partner brother and the other I never dealt with. I refused to give her or anyone she works with another dime. Stay away from this place and buy from someone who actually cares about what they're selling. I have no proof of it but I'm convinced our little guy is from a puppy mill based on other...
Read moreAfter stopping in multiple times over the past few years, my husband and I purchased a Maltese puppy in April 2020. She was about 10 weeks old when we brought her home and I can truly say she is such a wonderful addition to our home and gets along with our other pup perfectly.
The process of getting her was fairly straightforward, I called the store to confirm that she was available and scheduled a visit - after seeing the puppy, we were told to come back in a week or so, so that she could be fully vetted since she had recently arrived at the store. We live a little over an hour away, and Furrylicious was very accommodating with scheduling around us so that we could come and get her, especially in the midst of a pandemic.
There are two reasons why I am giving four stars: my puppy's health after we brought her home and the purchasing process was rushed and pushy. You have to fill out a number of forms in order to purchase the dog, and as someone who reads contracts daily for work, I naturally had some clarifying questions before signing. Each time I asked a question, the owner would quickly dismiss it and tell me that the contract was standard for the state of New Jersey rather than answering the question. We felt like we were being nuisances by trying to fully understand what we were agreeing to.
In regards to my puppy's health, when we brought her home we were told to give her wet food (later to find out she had been only eating dry food while she was at the shop) and this caused her to have uncontrollable diarrhea for weeks and dismissed her appetite. This was incredibly stressful because small dogs are susceptible to hypoglycemia - it was frustrating that we were told to give her something that ultimately upset her stomach instead of being provided with her accurate eating history. She also had kennel cough and gave it to our other dog.
At the end of the day, we understand that when puppies are caged together that it is common for them to develop kennel cough, and when moving to new environments diarrhea is not uncommon. At the end of the day, we absolutely adore our puppy and despite some minor bumps along the way, are very satisfied with our purchase.
My advice to any potential purchasers would be that these puppies are very young and require a lot of attention/care for the first free weeks- as someone who has raised multiple puppies, the fact that this one was only 10 weeks definitely impacted the first few weeks with us. I am really glad that I experienced raising other puppies so that I was prepared to...
