This company is a danger and operates in a grossly irresponsible manner. I had a near miss incident that occurred this past Tuesday involving one the drivers, as well as an unprofessional interaction I had with a shipping manager following the incident.
While driving toward the 495 exit 170B, I was in the far-right lane next to a tall concrete retaining wall. One of Willard Packing’s drivers attempted to merge into my lane while I was already positioned in the middle of their truck. I had nowhere to go, and several cars were behind me. I could not brake without risking a rear-end collision. I began honking my horn to alert the driver, but they continued merging, leaving me no choice but to move as close to the retaining wall as possible.
In doing so, I scraped a portion of my side mirror on the wall, which illustrates just how close I was to being crushed. Despite my horn blaring, the driver persisted. I was lucky enough to get my car out of the way before being crushed between the truck and the wall. I was extremely shaken by the experience, as my 1-year-old daughter was in the back seat and we were nearly killed.
The driver did pull over, but parked far behind me and remained in his truck. Given my young child was in the car, I could not safely leave my vehicle to approach the truck. When I attempted to capture the truck’s information, the driver drove off. Fortunately, I was able to take a photo of the truck and its DOT number.
Following the incident, I contacted the office and was connected to a manager named David or Dave. When I explained what had happened, his response was both dismissive and unprofessional. He raised his voice, berating me for not providing more specific details about the location, despite my being visibly shaken from the incident. When I defended myself and expressed my distress, he abruptly ended the call, telling me to "go ahead" and report the situation to the DOT.
I am extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism and empathy displayed by the shipping manager, especially in such a serious situation. I am also deeply concerned about the reckless behavior of this company’s driver and their lack of response and accountability, which put my life, my child’s life, and the lives of others on the road in danger. This company and the employees don’t not care about safety. If you are thinking about working with them you should reconsider. To date not one person has taken this incident seriously. Rectified it our contacted me. This same driving is still out of the highway driving around and will potentially cause another catastrophic accident. They won’t be satisfied until somebody actually dies.
I plan to report this incident and this company to the DOT, because they refuse to take this matter serious and respond with an appropriate course of action....
