This review is based on two visits. One a 5 and the other a 1. 5 needs no explanation but today, the 1 does. I have been here many times but this was a horrible experience. The easier was on slowmo even when we first got there and there were maybe three tables. I can be patient, and was, however when our meals came out and they were cold. I stuck my finger in the mashed potatoes and they weren't even warm, they were literally cold. So we sent them back and I asked for something fresh and not nuked in the microwave and when they came back they were nuked in the microwave. My friends omelette was still cut in half and pushed back together. I stuck my finger in the mashed potatoes and they were cold. I asked for a fresh plate and they remade both of our plates but again the mashed potatoes were called. The manager came out and argued with me. And let me be clear, I don't argue in a restaurant and I don't want to embarrass anybody. But I'm paying good money for my food. He loudly said that everybody else was eating their food and nobody else was complaining. I said that I don't understand how you could keep bringing out cold food. He said the mashed potatoes are in a big pot sitting in hot water and they can't be cold. So I scooped some up in my spoon. I said touch these mashed potatoes. Anyway at that point he said that my meal would be free but he's not bringing it back again. He then offered me roasted potatoes in place of the mashed potatoes. Which by the way are super yummy. The rest of my meal I ate some of and it was delicious. But I couldn't eat the mashed potatoes because they were cold. I go out to restaurants a lot and this is the first horrible experience I've ever had. I hardly ever have to send something back and I'm usually not so picky. It was a disappointing experience on an absolutely gorgeous day. Normally I would call and talk to the owner but I don't feel like I'll ever get a hold of the owner so that's why I'm...
Read moreCafé Sophie is such a hidden gem!!! We had lunch there today and in addition to the fun impromptu air show that kept all of us entertained (kids and adults included), the food was fantastic. When your 14-year-old daughter declares on the drive home that she wants to return this week because she can’t wait to order the Scandinavian salad with chicken once again, you have a winner! We also shared the margherita pizza, which was so delicious that my generally leftover-averse husband who couldn’t join us devoured the last couple slices when we got home. The service by our server Andrew was impeccable and the owners/managers were friendly and welcoming.
Of course, the atmosphere was also worth the visit, too. Where else can you get this up close and personal with airplanes in MoCo?! I share this because we also had a very curious toddler in our party, who had his choice of Brie, Jarlsberg, or Provolone for his grilled cheese on the extensive kids’ menu (!), and is very into all things transportation these days, which made the venue just perfect. We sat outside for a close-up view of the runway, which also gave plenty of space for adults and little kids alike to have a nice lunch without bothering anybody.
On another note, as a person with a spinal cord injury who uses a wheelchair full-time, Café Sophie was easy to navigate. There was plenty of accessible parking, the wheelchair lift to the second floor where the Café is located worked flawlessly without any assistance from anyone else, the bathrooms were wheelchair friendly, and the restaurant layout was spacious enough to wheel through. The staff was also helpful in moving chairs from the table for me to sit without my even asking them to do so. It was a really easy and effortless visit for me!
We will be back to visit Café Sophie soon, and will definitely recommend it to...
Read moreThis is a cool place. Like many others we've been to previous iterations of this location and I'm glad something is still here because it's great to watch the planes. I guess I expected a little more from the menu. Being a Scandinavian restaurant I was hoping for a few more international breakfast options aside from a rolled pancake and an English breakfast. I liked the croissant bagel (sorry I can't remember what it was called).
The service today was pretty terrible (this was our first visit and we'll definitely not judge the whole restaurant on this one visit, we will be back.) It took forever for the waitress to come take our order. She was very friendly, but she'd disappear for long periods of time and it seemed like the other waitresses were more attentive to our needs. We had to ask a different waitress for the waters we originally asked for. We tried giving our order and I ordered a bagel cream cheese and salmon, unfortunately the restaurant was out of salmon. That was really a big factor in why we chose to go there today. She brought my wife's bagel a long time before she brought mine. She said mine burnt in the oven, but it seemed like someone just forgot about it despite me asking about it. And the cream cheese never came. When she brought our breakfast the eggs were greasy (or too buttery) and the children's pancake we ordered was an adult portion. She said she'd ring it up as a children's portion and we could eat the rest, she never changed the order resulting in us getting overcharged. Anyway, overall the food was good and the waitress was very cool despite the lack of a stellar performance. We'll be back and hopefully next time I can...
