I had the most God awful experience in the Redwood falls, Mn. Dollar Tree today. My significant other and I were shopping as we have been doing almost weekly in this store since it opened a couple years ago. There was a female named Yesarrie (I'm sure the spelling is wrong) who identified herself as the store manager and a clerk by the name of Diego there. Both could be heard speaking Spanish loudly in the store. Honestly as my significant other and I shopped, I didn't pay much mind to it, but I thought it was kind of surprising to be so loud. So we finish our shopping and go to the check out where I am checked out without incident. As my girlfriend starts to check out with her $30+ order the manager answers the phone in Spanish which I thought was unusual and I looked at my girlfriend and I said "are we still in America"? To which the clerk loudly proclaims "we are bilingual in this store and if you don't like it you can go shop somewhere else". At this point I'm like really? Then he proceeds to give my girlfriend her total in Spanish and we both looked at him and said what and he repeated it again in Spanish. This is the point where I kind of lost my cool and drop the F-bomb saying "Are you f** kidding me"? Now the "manager" is calling the Redwood falls Police Department to have me removed from the store and tresspassed! At this point my girlfriend pushes her cart aside and says forget it, we're leaving and as we go to leave I'm trying to take video of the whole incident to plaster all over social media. Unfortunately I did not get it all on video. I hope the store's cameras caught it all. Then the clerk who refused to speak English to my girlfriend and embarrassed her, calls the manager in English to cancel the order! At this point I made it perfectly clear to her that I was going to be contacting the district manager and she replied "my district manager already knows that we're bilingual and it's okay with her, you go right ahead. As well as "this is my store and we do what we want, now please leave". So I left and I proceeded to wait for the police in the parking lot. After speaking with the police, they pointed out that there was nothing wrong done, but at the store manager's request I was going to be trespassed, but not my girlfriend who they refused to check out in English, only me because I made a big deal out of it. The bottom line is this is absolutely absurd. Just because you're bilingual, doesn't mean that you can decide to speak Spanish with whomever it is you feel like, should that be at the Trump hat wearing caucasian guy or his girlfriend, or anyone else, etc. I do honestly believe that they let their political views or their dislike for my political views color their judgment in this situation. This particular manager had a bumper sticker on her car during the last election that said "Make America Native Again". I'm fine with the fact that they're bilingual, that's great, but you're speaking to 2 individuals who only speak English and that's pretty clear since it's the language we're using, not to mention English is the first language in this country. The part that Dollar Tree isn't aware of is that both my girlfriend and I are separate business owners, who utilize the Dollar Tree for THOUSANDS of dollars worth of product per year and I have receipts to prove that. If this individual is the store manager at the store, she has lost business from my girlfriend who was not trespassed as well as myself and possibly anybody else we can tell. Social media is a wonderful thing for rooting out issues. One more thing Dollar Tree would be wise to understand is that cheap Chinese "stuff" can be purchased in a lot of...
Read moreOn one occasion one of the clerk was very rude and bossy. Another time I gave $20 to pay for my $5 purchase. She shut her drawer and gave me my receipt. I asked for my change. "You have me a 5". No I gave a 20. I did get my change back eventually. Today the store was to open at 9am. At 9am doors locked, lights on. I waited...knocked on the door, called the store...several customers came and left upset. I gave up at 9:20. I'm not impressed! For just opening this store it's not starting out well as far as...
