Well I just recently moved to the area, and my husband works on 910 and I work in Allison park area. Not far from the giant eagle on route 8, it's also very convenient for me to get to considering it's close to our new home and our jobs. However, this morning I went there after dropping my husband off at work to purchase WIC items. Was in the store for about an hour, asked where items were from multiple employees. Obviously with my WIC checks in plain sight employees failed to mention to me that they didnt accept WIC. An hour and a half I spent at this store gathering all my WIC items, only to get to the register and be treated so innapropriately by the cashier, she rudely told me they do not accept WIC because they are a privately owned company. I asked why weren't there any signs outside or on the entrance doors that said "DO NOT ACCEPT WIC". I was embarrassed as to how the cashier had handled the situation, she then proceeded to say I'd have to go somewhere else. The excuse that they're privately owned is complete bulls**t considering when I was in college I worked at a privately owned giant eagle in Sarver, and they've always accepted WIC. So please somebody contact me and explain to me why I was treated poorly, and why your company does not accept WIC. You pay taxes to the government? I feel they should accept it. Many...
Read moreThis Giant Eagle Supermarket includes a pharmacy, which is why I stopped in. The store is laid out in an orderly fashion and it was clean and easy to locate the items I needed, but the store is also very large and requires quite a bit of walking to cross from the entrance to the pharmacy and back. This isn't convenient with small children. The pharmacist demonstrated excellent product knowledge and provided product clarification, which I appreciated very much. My pet peeve was that I attempted to use the self checkout line with just a small handful of items and was not able to complete my purchase because I didn't have a "Giant Eagle Advantage Card" and was sent to wait in very long check out lines instead. What nonsense. I can't say that I will stop in again. Not at all convenient if I can't pay and leave. It's like they want to keep you trapped in there forever so that they keep selling you more things. No thanks! We have...
Read moreWe just experienced the best grocery store experience we have ever had. We just moved to the area and typically hate the grocery store but everyone went above and beyond. We were looking for asparagus and there were only two really sad batches left so we grabbed one and before we even left the produce section we were intercepted by an employee (Casey) who saw us and brought out a fresh box for us to pick from and took our old asparagus. Every employee was knowledgeable about where items were and if they didn’t know they instantly found an employee who would know where to look. Even the cashier at checkout (didn’t catch her name) was very friendly and funny. As we were leaving the store to begin the review, someone came over to our car and offered to take our empty cart for us to put the cherry on top of a perfect experience! Keep up the good work giant eagle!!! So happy...
