We have a Sony wide screen that began to give us a timed out message on the screen that our lamp was nearing the end of its expected life. Two years ago I needed the same lamp and I found Gruss Electronics in Johnstown, Pa. through the internet and I purchased the lamp they preassembled in the module unit that fits into its docking position. Therefore this time I went back to Gruss even though I live in Somerset, Pa. 25 miles away. I took the old lamp to their shop and they had a new lamp ready for pick up in a very short period of time. To my surprise the cost was $20.00 less than two years ago. As before. They installed the new lamp into the module housing as they did two years earlier; ready to install the assembled component back into the T.V. To my surprise. the lamp did not cure the problem. Thinking it might be a defective lamp I called Gruss and without hesitation they asked me to bring it back, which I did that same day. The person at the counter. who I assumed was the owner(?); stated there might be something else going wrong within the T.V. The counter person asked me to let him know if the replacement lamp fixed the problem. Unfortunately the replacement lamp did not bring my T.V. back to life. I then scheduled their service person to come to my home for additional assessment of the T.V. The service person by the name of Jon, after a short time analyzing the condition. he had the problem isolated and soon we had our T.V. back to the picture we have always been used to. Jon showed me an accumulation of dust inside the fan cabinet that he cleaned. It is in an area I would not attempt to dig into. If it needs cleaning again I am calling Gruss and have Jon come to Somerset. I want to recognize Gruss in general but Jon specifically for his obvious skill qualifications, his professionalism, his refreshing personality and the fact he cleaned up after his work was finished. I would certainly RECOMMEND GRUSS AND SERVICE PERSON JON to anyone needing the services they provide.!!

Read moreI'll never use their services again due to lack of transparency. I called one day asking if they do console repair, he said yes and asked me what was going on. I told him it lost power one day and never turned back on, I also added that It was more than likely something on the motherboard that fried, he told me to bring it up. So I take it up. He asks again what was going on. I told him again that I think something on the motherboard went bad.. He says OK well take a look, charges me the estimate fee and takes the console. A week goes by I give him a call. He tells me there's nothing he can do because it's something on the main motherboard. My problem is he could have told me he couldn't or wouldn't do motherboard repair and saved us both the time and me some money. He did give me half the money back for the estimate but I'm still out 25 bucks and my console is still broken so one...

Television was dropped off on Saturday, I was called on Tuesday morning with the repair estimate, and on Thursday I received a call that the TV was repaired! When I picked it up he gave me good advice on how to extend the life of my TV and showed me how to change settings. Hooked it up and made adjustments. It works beautifully! I know who I will definitely call when I need electronic devices repaired! I had called a different repair shop before calling Gruss and the owner at the other shop said the best thing to do was junk the set and buy a new one. SO GLAD I CALLED GRUSS!!!!!
