I used to like shopping at market basket. I will not be returning due to poor customer service from a deli employee and then calling to ask a question about the service to a manager. I was also treated poorly. If you are in line before the deli closes at 8pm, are the last person in line, and it hits 8pm, you will be told they are closed. After that, an employee walked back and forth between the rows of meat multiple times while ignoring you after serving the customer in front of you. He waited until 8 pm to tell us “we are closed” so he did not have to wait for another customer. Then I called the manager to ask if you were the last person in line at the deli before 8 pm. Can they refuse to serve me by waiting till 8pm to tell me they are closed when the employee walked past me multiple times and refused to say anything until the clock hits 8pm? The manager with attitude replied yes, they could due to them needing to clean the machines from 8-9pm. I understand that needs to be done, but the one item I would have liked would have not had him touch a machine. All the employee was required to do was scoop food into a container, weigh it, and put a sticker on it, and it would have taken a minute or less of his time. Which should not infringe much or possibly at all on the hours needed to clean machines and be out of work on time. He spent the same amount of time, if not more, avoiding informing the customers that he would not serve them. To which the manager replied I cannot have the employees work overtime if they do not want to but that he would be willing to pay them if they did. I was like, okay, I understand. Still, one minute of their time will not have them working overtime for 15-30 minutes longer or even possibly affect the person's ability to get out of work on time like he was suggesting it would. Then, he stated that he could not have them work more than their regularly scheduled hours. Yet again, I said I was not taking up an hour of service or time away from their job duties. It would have taken one minute or less to have a happy and returning customer, but providing customer service would have been too much to ask for. Also, they leave an empty number dispenser on the counter before 8 p.m., so you cannot get one, and they do not have a sign stating what time they pull the numbers. If you are usually not getting a deli item towards the end of the day and numbers are not available, you would think that they may be out and that they just did not have time to refill the roll, but that is not the case. But the man in front of me, who also did not have a ticket, was still served when he was waiting in line. What happened to customer service at market basket and work ethic? Shop local is a big topic today, but if an employee cannot spare a minute to provide customer service or a manager cannot have employees complete their job duties and provide customer service, I will not support that business. As a person who would be willing to accommodate a customer's line needs before being concerned about leaving work a minute late passively so I could make sure that customers are happy and have job security for myself so people return. A paycheck can continue to...
Read moreAfter work yesterday, I bought a ton of deli and a 6 pack of Brisk tea. Totaling over $40. Took everything home , put the deli away and this morning took the tea to work. At lunchtime I took a drink of tea and it was horrible. I never had bad Brisk. I looked at the expiration date, and it expired 2 months ago. I called and spoke to Christine and was told to bring it in after work to exchange it even though I told her I didn't have the receipt. I went after work and was denied exchanging it. Never shopping there again.
11/27...too late Market Basket, I already pitched it. I never had to deal with customer service at Market Basket before but they need training as far as customer service. The women in customer service aren't very nice or friendly. And the manager wasn't very nice ... all over a couple dollars for a six pack of Brisk tea. I'm in customer service and you have to put on a fake smile and kiss customers butts to keep customers coming back. I've never been a repeat customer at the customer service before but if a product is bad because of being 2 months out dated it should be...
Read moreThat place is just a good place to just buy the groceries you need, some of the supervisors and managers don’t treat people with disabilities with respect rather if it’s a customer or employee. This is just horrible for the people with special needs who can really use somebody’s time to help them succeed in life, but don’t ever, and I mean never especially workers who are high of the charts make any kid or citizen with disabilities with mental health issues feel like they want to die because of a few workers gaslighting about stuff they worked hard for. And that’s why me as a recent employer at Market Basket decided to quit this job and move on. I hope you guys have a wonderful day, and I would never be someone who would ever try to make somebody feel bad, but please with KINDNESS AND EMPATHY, please make sure that everyone has big smiles on their faces because me as a generous, kind, and passionate woman, everyone is a light in the lords eyes. Have a nice life.😢 P.S. to everyone I doubt in the community and the main boss, I am so...
