I have had the great pleasure of not only shopping for my Pipe Tobacco at the educated Cigar, but have become aquatinted with the Owner Rick, and his Son. Two more friendly, small business owners would be hard to find these days.
Rick, and his Son are both quite knowledgeable about the Superb quality products be it Cigars, Pipe Tobacco, accessories, and wine, though I have not tried any wine as I have to be careful.
Every time I have gone in to their store it is clean, very organized, and welcoming! There is always a hello, or other very welcoming greeting upon walking in. I am mostly a Pipe Smoker, but I have tried some of their cigars, and have been very, very impressed with them also. As to their Pipe Tobacco, they are the best selection locally.
There has not been a Supreme quality Cigar, and Pipe Store since the Briar Shoppe in the Columbia Center back in the 70's and 80's. I am so grateful that the educated cigar is here, especially in Richland! In all honesty there is not a better shop any where near here. The closest would be Spokane if they are even still there anymore.
But I hardly travel anymore so it has been an absolute invaluable treasure to have the Educated Cigar locally serving the Tri Cities with excellent quality Cigars, Pipe Tobacco, Pipes, yes they have pipes: Savinelli, Peterson, some nice reasonable Meerschaums, Corn Cobs, and other decently priced Pipes available. They have starter package sets for those wanting to get into pipe smoking, or try it out, and not break the bank!
You will honestly be hard pressed to find a friendlier, more knowledgeable, and welcoming store for Superb quality Cigars, Pipe Tobacco, accessories ie: excellent humidors, lighters, tinned and loose leaf Pipe Tobaccos, and a large Cigar Humidor that lines (3) three walls of their excellent store.
They also have a smoking area with tables and chairs under a portico to enjoy a good Cigar, or Pipe!
Also one last note, every time I have been in The Educated Cigar, upon leaving I, and every one else is offered a bottle of water, cold or warm your choice! What a fantastic, and uncommon friendly gesture to each customer. That says a lot to me. It tells me that Rick, and his Son, know how to treat their customers! That their customers each and every one means a great deal to them. Also it tells me they love what they do. Those things are priceless!
They have a customer for life as far as I am concerned. That is not lip service, that is a fact.
Try them out see what they have to offer, experience how a real store run the old fashioned way, with real quality products, great welcoming atmosphere, knowledgeable, and friendly owners, integrity, honesty, and superb business etticate!
I hope anyone who visits the Educated Cigar will have the chance to experience what I have come to love about this store the way I...
Read moreThe smells of this room are wonderful. I could narrow down my choices just by the smell in front of the humidor/cabinet. Very simple shop with great variety. But it is not like a stocked to the ceiling with every brand you could think of. My basic butt didn't find the specific "Playboy" brand cigars there. I can't seem to find em anywhere though. Despite this, I found some cigars I enjoyed. There are cigars in value of $30+ ea, to some gentle flavored cigars as low as $3... Get the $4 one :P. My GF now enjoys cigars, go figure!
The nicest thing about this place... Is the guy running it. The customer service especially. It's very "old school" in how genuine it is. No fake smiles, provides an opener for conversation and enjoys the interaction with the customer. It's like being welcomed into his home and he is being a good host. He even offers water. So laid back that the signs say the guy is there if you need assistance, or feel free to help yourself. If you don't see him around, he's probably outside enjoying a cigar if you need him.
I like his style and the trust he has in his patrons. I don't usually like small shops where the person running it constantly has their eyes on me. This doesn't happen here. I walk past him having a cigar and playing cards outside the store in the "patio" with what I assume are his "regulars"... And go inside not realizing it's him playing cards. I get 3-10 minutes alone in the shop. Plenty of time to explore the possibilities and selection.
Always offered a water and he provides a stamp on the card for every $10. Get 10 and get $10 off. Oh and of course the complementary book of matches.
But yeah after my basic cellphone review I originally made. I wanted to really clarify what will keep bringing me back here for cigars for the GF and I. Just because of the genuine store...
