Kadlec Regional Medical Center has issues far beyond the typical complaints (I didnât get my pillow/blanket in a timely manner; the staff is not nice enough to family; they arenât bathing my loved one everyday). Keep in mind itâs a HOSPITALâŠnot a HOTEL. There are factors in play here that go far beyond the nurse-patient relationship. The biggest issue with this business is LEADERSHIPâŠprimarily upper management and the lack thereof. This hospitalâs priority is MONEY and that affects staffing and subsequently patients, your loved ones. They would rather hire new and inexperienced nurses or hire overpaid travel nurses to work for them than keep their seasoned and experienced staff. Thereâs a reason Kadlec Regional Medical Center has such a high turnover rate in their nursing staff. They create their own understaffed issues. They try to skirt around the boundaries by âtrainingâ nurses in different areas to avoid having to pay them for those specific skills. When you donât get your cup of ice water in a timely manner itâs probably because your nurse is busy tending to one of his/her other 4-6 patients. Sometimes they are pulled away from ALL their patients to go attend a code Blue in another floorâŠat times for 45 minutes or more. Their nurses sometimes go without eating lunch and taking their 15 minute breaks, which are required by law, but then get in trouble when they clock-out no lunch/no break. Just to add insult to injuryâŠnight shift staff doesnât get the same access to cafeteria food as the day shift because they shut it down on them. So if a nurse doesnât get a chance to run down there and grab something to eat by a certain time then thatâs too bad. Pregnant nurses are seen helping lift, roll, and change obese patients (sometimes on their own) which is a clear violation of WA Labor Laws which state pregnant employees can request not to lift more than 17 lbs. Not many, if any females nurses are aware of this, but Kadlec Regional Medical Center should be. When family/patients complain about not seeing a doctor for hours; especially at night, well thatâs because thereâs usually just ONE (read that againâŠONE) doctor on-site for the entire hospital to tend to patients needs. Talk about a huge responsibility on one person. More often than not that doctor knows NOTHING about a specific patients history and are afraid to make care decisions so they delay things until the next day. Kadlec Regional Medical Center is responsible for the care you receiveâŠwhich is a clear reflection of their leadership and lack of support and appreciation of their staff. So next time you are frustrated with a nurse; remember that they are just the unappreciated, overworked, understaffed, and underpaid pawns in this grand...
Read moreI understand COVID-19 has us all especially the hospitals in disarray but, there needs to be way, way more order on how Information is delivered and how patience are treated I took in my 2 years old daughter because she had runny nose, bad cough etc and her mother was at home with COVID so I wanted to make sure she didnât catch the virus, The doctor for that night Peter R. later, DO was customer service nice, they did a X-RAY, COVID test, etc waited a few hours for Peter to let us no she had no pneumonia and if she has COVID itâs âmildâ whatever that means? And told me that the test was about 24-72 hours and if I donât get a call that means she was negative and if I do get a call means she is positive. Then Peter states âwait I donât think they call anymore hmmmâ well you know how to log in to my K chart right ? As if I knew what that was off the top of my head I explained to him Iâve never heard of it then he beings to say well I think you use your information or wait it might be hers âI am not sureâ so that was very reassuring the. Peter ask if I have any questions and I said yes how exactly do I login they told me my daughter was to young to have a k chart login and that I would need to receive a call if negative or not. Then the nurse came in for that night and she had no idea of what a k chart was so I just let them know I would figure it out it was 3:30am and needed to get my daughter home Peter had no problem saying âhave a goodnight and walking straight outâ I understand the ER is a low class of your medical degree or maybe you didnât go far enough to take on something more then the ER but all of these doctors and nurses took a stand on being there for the people and every time I visit the ER for any reason no one is in that mentality witch makes me think why did you go down this career path if you going to treat people this way. I respect and thank you guys for all you do but someone has to get these doctors and nurse training on how theyâre websites work and how a father can get the results back for his daughter the most effective way possible instead of hoping for a call or trying to figure out how to log into this âmy k chartâ deal witch Iâve tried numerous times ans even called support help who which transferred me to the emergency center in Richland and they fought with me on why support would send me to them then the lady over the phone told me you should call in the morning to medical records they might know more then me about how to get your results which is crazy to me we are in a pandemic for the past year and no one in the hospital or in support help knows not one thing about how to sing up or login properly very sad from a group of medical degree chasing people. This the...
Read moreMy name is David Sporleder. I am 63 years old. I was brought in around noon on the 19th a Wednesday! Floor 7100. My first nurse was Miranda! She was warm caring and put my heart at ease. Through out my 10 day stay she checked in on me encouraged me and cared for me! Then came Johnny! He was a strong advocate for my comfort. He listened and responded with patience and caring. He encouraged my spirit to fight, to eat. I got my first goodnight sleep under his care. I then remember Jennifer. A great big beautiful heart and a deep compassion for my well being! She helped me adjust to my new oxygen treatments as my condition became known. My world was a wash of oxygen and noise as my treatments started. I have become confused about names. April or maybe Diana or two different people were there for me every step of the way. Genuine caring nurses that helped me adjust and thrive! My comfort always seemed a priority! Then came Muna! So strong and fierce! Filled with compassion and strength. She helped restore my will to fight! As I began to feel better a new light entered my stay. Alexas! Unending energy and encouragement! My truest advocate. She cheered my successes. She encouraged my very soul! Last but not least was Raven. A shinning light of hope and concern. She cautioned me on doing to much and to not over do it when I was to get out. She encouraged a cautious return to my life. All the breathing experts were amazing. Adrian, Joshua, Michael, and some I did not get their names. All made me feel well cared for! The person I saw most. She was incharge of most of my oxygen treatments. I did not get her name. She was short with dark hair. She was like having a mother bear protector! She fought my condition like a champ. So determined she challenged me and she listened to me! She reminded me of my mother! All the wonderful CNA'S not once rude or uncaring. They got me thru my time of helplessness with my dignity intact! Your cleaning staff are all amazing as well. Not rude and always polite. The serving staff from the kitchen were all sweet people doing a great job. Finally my Dr.s! So honest and caring. Always checking up on me. Never letting me feel defeated. Only my family has ever made me feel so loved and cared for! Each of you are amazing people with talents and skills that make you unique and special. Whomever is in charge should feel pride in this wonderful team they have assembled. I feel so blessed to have been healed here! Thank you all! May God bless each one of you! Sincerely...
